  1. End of March in sight with warmer temps ahead (some time not too distant). This is when the SC 430 really shines when the roof comes off and you have just blue sky above you. My first real summer with this and I am beginning to get a bit excited. Idiot remember this is the N West of England not the S West of France. No, still excited at the idea.
  2. When I said NO I had thought it meant would the tonneau still close and the roof come off. Without that constraint as you show the boot capacity ain't bad !
  3. I don't understand why leaving it any time at all would change the current situation. The heat is supposed to basically tighten the leather at a structural level (fibres). However, when the heat is removed and the temperature of the material normalises the effect stops and you are left with whatever you have got. I see no logic in the agents suggestion. You have my sympathy on this one. I would be unhappy to be buying leatherwork to see it degrade that quickly. Hold out for better.
  4. Going with NO. You see the white one in the middle I could live out of that for a month. The other two might just about contain sufficient to keep the wife happy for a week.
  5. Strange thing is my battery position is exactly that, but when I went to the battery specialist shop he told me the Exide battery was the only one on the market that would fit the SC 430. Sounds like he was wrong?.
  6. Definitely interested on how the heat treatment worked.
  7. "Amazing comfort and reliability with immense power and presence" Extremely organically powered via dinosaur droppings.😉
  8. Well strictly speaking this one should be closer to a third than a second Belt given it's year 2005. manufacturers do specify both age and mileage so if we believe them age degradation must be a factor irrespective of mileage. Do we believe them though?
  9. I guess how much of a premium depends on the details we don't know about. However, if the usual costly stuff was all in good order then frankly I think the premium is not that big. 2k? I am on record don't overpay for low mileage cars when the engine can do so much more, but combine that low mileage with a well sorted car coming with no other immediate costs and in my view it should be beyond my magic 10k number. Going to be at least a couple on this forum who are coming in at circa 12k (buy + upgrade costs) for a higher mileage car so is this one overpriced? Probably , but not by megabucks and that's just their starting price so time for it to improve.
  10. My Zimmerframe has this same "shuddering" problem when I brake sharply from 3mph.
  11. North facing walls are Moss Green. All other cardinal facing walls are a shade of mossy green.
  12. Is this the only way yur car gets a wash?
  13. Living in the N West as some of us do that rules out about 80% of the year.

  15. Proximity to grill probably a moisture issue and rusting around bolts always an issue. Combine et voila and no mystery for the little grey cells. Shoot I need to stop rewatching Poirot!
  16. I use a small hand from me clutching microfiber cloths to dry off the car everywhere. The problem with airdrying is any particles held in the water dry onto the car and potentially of course interact with the paintwork. Full disclaimer, I don't know what I don't know, because my name is not Donald (sic).
  17. You'll know you have maxed out when DVLA send back your application with a one line response "You're kidding right".
  18. Seems a common enough issue. Fortunately, remove and painting them seems a small enough task.
  19. Bob, Is the satin Black a decent match for the rest of the bay? My two brackets could do with a treatment similar to yours, but was unsure what to use.
  20. Doesn't time fly when you are having fun? As I was reminded upon receipt from DVLA of a need to re apply for my driving licence. Compete with photo now of course. Wife took one for me and I swear I have no idea who this old geezer is who is impersonating me. 50 years leaves a mark. However, wear it with pride I say to which end I updated my avatar although I dare say you can hardly tell (sic).
  21. That might be right about the price jack. However, standing asie objectively on this car ,and remember I have already seen it in depth, I would say it shouldn't. That is based upon my view that get a car at a sensible price below 10k like this one is and costing in what still needs doing it makes sense on a value basis. If i had to guess at the sticking point I suspect it will be the colour. First the pics don't really capture the colour that well and secondly this colour probably does not feature that highly on many people's list of wants. When I look at what Steve and Bob paid and what they needed to do afterwards then this car meets the same criteria, but of course it ain't Blue !!
  22. "as the other cars without a Stoploc would be the easer target ." Yes, the zombie aocalyse strategy manifest! You don't need to be the fastest, you just need to be faster than the slowest.
