  1. Hi Malc It could be the original, it's a Panasonic! Yes I will do. I am sure they will be cheaper than Lexus
  2. Thanks GMB I think I may be okay but being on the safe side I will invest in a small handheld jump starter. Just need to find how it happened that's all.
  3. Hello, Today, took my car to Halfords for a dashcam (Nextbase 522gw) front and back fit. Left the car with them. Received a call about 1 hour later, done front and just finishing off back (fit on rear shelf, due to blinds) but battery has gone flat? Went over and nothing works, but see engine management light on dash and headlight light on, but can't start, no power to door or boot etc. Asked and Halfords don't have the battery but Lexus do at £369 with next day delivery, apparently it is an AGM battery with a sensor? Not good news. All work was done, asked Halfirds autocentre to jump start, he had a small hand held battery pack and it started up, no errors or lights. Got home and out with trickle charge, 2 lights it works (2 mins) , 3 lights 80% (5 mins) and 4 lights 90% (5 mins). So all okay so far will monitor over next few days and will use code reader timorrow My concern is what did the Halford guy do? Some thing with fuses, shortened something?
  4. Not good news. If you come up North, insurance gets worse. As mentioned before in another thread. Locality does not pay anymore, so if you have to elsewhere the existing company will not help and do a better deal, in fact they prefer new customers!
  5. Sorry to hear the bad news and it's just awful. I think more needs to be done to stop theses criminals and also if they are breaking them up or sending abroad. Sadly more cars are electronic nowadays and perhaps the old crooklock of the 90s need to come back!
  6. Cheers, that is quite thorough and may try that now
  7. Hello Terry, Not come across this before. But it is a case of elimination as there are about 30 different bits. Looks like it's only happens when car is moving and you are saying the suspension, exhaust, tyres, alloys have been checked? You need to check the car so the sound or knock is consistent, when turning the wheel, stopping, changing gear etc
  8. Also There is no issue with recommendations. But there is no guarantee what works for 1 will work for the other. The underwriters if they so wish can change the criteria overnight, mid insurance, this could be an issue where you make a change and are told sorry we cannot carry on the rest of hhe year to insure you as our criteria means you are now high risk than before! all in T&Cs.
  9. OK thats cool and useful
  10. CCHellp, I am not an expert and do not work in the industry. Car insurance is complex. It is all made up of risk! So the area you live in your work status, the type of car, availability of parts and other kinds of profiling. etc Also note, any kind of claim. fault or no fault is recorded and IMHO works against you. Nowadays you are more likely for an inurance company to say we don't want you anymore on your renewal and they are happy to take on a new customers so loyality does not really pay any more. The good news, it pays to shop around..eR Renew ideally 3 weeks before date and if using comparison sites start afresh and use a new email address! It is important to get the best policy not necessarily the cheapest.
  11. Brilliant that's how it should be done! As well as tyres and brakes, clean and effective wipers are super important.
  12. Hello Had Autoglass replace my front windscreen today, as zi had a few chips and a small hairline surface mark, near my line of vision They replacement only took an hour. However, after they fitted it, the guy phoned to tell me it had small scratches on the passenger side he wasn't happy and he would should show these to me when I come down. I looked at the scrarches and jonestly thought they were not that bad. But apparently they were some clips that were also missing, so we both agreed a néew glass and fittings were needed next week and the job would be redone but this time on my drive. I admire Autoglass for their honesty, even though the replacement glass is so much better than my previous one, it's not right . The glass fitted on my car should been thrown away or maered as buffed out. Apparently the screens all have stickers on them and can only be removed when the install takes place, looks someone has been naughty and done something bad and put a sticker and sent it back as unused, oh dear! Has anyone else had n experience on front windscreen replacement?
  13. Hello, Is there a particular gadget that you use in/for your car or something you enjoy. I have a sony portable music player, which ishas hi res sound as is great in the car or when I take with me and use with my headphones.
  14. As its winter, Question, do you clean your cars wipers blades? I get a cloth with washing up liquid and warm water and take the wipers off and give the blades and the wipers a good clean, every few weeks. If I am busy I will just get a wet tissue and just go over the blade. I am using Bosch aero blades so they last a while. Also up here in North of England. UK. It can be rainy season most of the year!
  15. Hello Boomer54, I dont use lacquer, but wd40 spray on the lens and dry off
  16. Thanks Scudney That's probably right as I have not had one done myself. ad one done before
  17. Thank you Boomer54, My mind is not all that twisted after all!!
  18. That is depends on battery health check being done, so in theory warranty is 12 months or 10,000 miles, upto 15 years. I hear on the newer cars warranty is 8 years?
  19. There is a face-lift 2012 LS600hl on auto trader it is Cat S, but the trader does not mention any info in the ad. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202309031501732 It is on for £12k and now checked it is reduced to £11.5k Only done 137k. But upon closer Inspection. Someone said it is not what it seems and the trader is adamant it is cheap. I am sure but I think it has been advertised a few times and at different prices. So what do I think? IMHO.. 1. Not everyone wants such a big car it is expensive on insurance, hard to source parts etc etc. 2. Buying this car is a risk and whoever buys it, knows they will not be able to sell it or get a good price for it. 3. Some people are not helpful answering questions and want a quick sell. The pressurising is not good. Hard to put a price on it, without looking, quick guess could be £8k or £9k, it is the face-lift model, with dvd but no rsr though. The warranty may help sell it, but it won't cover the hybrid battery.
  20. In my Lexus ls600hl, it has a Panasinic battery. I think that maybe the original battery, 13 years old, is it possible as my car is the hybrid?
  21. My local tyre garage I charge £15/£20 for the front wheel only laser alignment, they have many taxi drivers customers. The 4 wheel alignment is more comprehensive and £50 to £70 may be right price. Especially, if you car us pulling or your tyes are wearing out unevenly. I would like say domething. I dont want to upset anyone and I respect the dealers, but please don't assume the dealers have the knowledge on everything, they don't. But do your research, ask questions and go to a reputable tyre specialist indy, they will look after you, give you great advice and look after you, but you will save money for something else. On all my recent cars I use Pareto principle 80% Indy and 20% dealer (usually parts) and the money I save goes towards new tyres etc.
  22. I have a theory. Might not make sense to anyone else though! As the wing mirror was pushed back away from its normal mode. I think the plastic housing where the motor sits has been dislodged to a nearer position, meaning when the autimatc fold is selected the mirror only move 2/5 from its original position. May look at pushing back the mirror and pressing the buttons at the same time and see if I can move it back. Not given up yet.
  23. Well done and am glad you didn't give up and got it sorted. Whatever it is am leaving with the new glass. Not as brave as you to check it out.
