  1. Well said. V8 performance at 28 - 34MPG in a Lexus 4x4 vehicle has been very worthwhile for me. And yes, 28MPG is the lowest I have ever had over nearly 3.5 years of 400h ownership.
  2. But surely that is 26MPG using US gallons. I remember there being many negative reports when the RX400h was launched - I will wait until I have the 450h for a weekend test drive before I make up my mind. I'm also thankful the 600h is depreciating - I think its a great car and look forward to buying one if the 450h disappoints.
  3. If you do not intend to keep the car for many years and depreciation is a concern, your only choice is a 400h, especially now that the 450h is about to to arrive. RX350 values will plummet as the supplies of 400h vehicles that will be traded for the 450h in rises. I thought you could now get the wood pack in the 400h, is that not the case? Alternatively, keep your current RX350 for another year and then move directly into a 450h.
  4. Just had a letter from Lexus on this. Remedial work will take 3hrs or so. If you have not had a letter and wish to check whether your vehicle is part of the recall, get in touch with your dealer or customer Helpline 0800 085 2427.
  5. My brake calipers and discs were also replaced under warranty by Lexus Guildford. I had gone in for a different problem but they noticed the problem and got on with it. After 8 years of excellent service, I cannot rate them highly enough.
  6. What a puzzle! I would stay with the current RX350 if you are still happy with it. Although they are depreciating, it must be cheaper to keep the car than change it. I tried moving from an RX to the GS450h, I changed my mind within days and ordered an RX again - I could not cope with the ride on rough surfaces and the boot seemed to fill up with a brief case and a computer bag! After all the room of the RX, the GS450 felt too cramped. It is a powerful machine and good to drive on motorways but not being a speed freak, the whole experience left me underwhelmed. I would have faired better in a standard GS, which has a proper boot, but the CO2 emissions were higher and Red Ken was making horrifying noises about £25 congestion charges at the time! If you must change the RX350 then try RX400h, or better still the LS600h. That is the only car I would change my RX400h for at present!
  7. Values and demand have plummeted all round for the RX300. Dealers don't seem to want them as it takes a long time to shift them.
  8. Perhaps Lexus should strip out all the extras that come as standard and charge us for them too, as other manufacturers do. Then we can compare like for like on extras, accessories and equipment features. At least then the extra value offered by Lexus will be more obvious...or not...
  9. Point 1 is debatable but it is interesting that its always the wives who adjust these things! Point 2 - Never found that to be problem. You can scroll through the CDs using steering wheel controls for the tracks within a CD, and you can move onto the next CD using the buttons on the stereo. All explained in the manual.
  10. yet another one of your toothless tiger comments, are you and exiled one in the same person,if it smells like like fish it usually is. Whatever... PS - you know full well how many remap after remap, EGR valves, 5th Injector after 5th injector. Try ignoring it if you will, but the Lexus experience has tumbled, and I congratulate the poster of this thread in trying to get it discussed, rather than brushed under some carpet somewhere...I doubt that any other Lexus (IS220d) has ever had so many issues where even the dealers are perplexed...I actually worked with my dealr to get the car right and posted my findings subjectively here, rather than constantly looking through Lexus tinted specs... Please don't make accusation like the one above, or picking up on every word and trying to make an issue. It's quite tedious. There really is no point in making it personal. This is some one elses thread - start your own one if you want... PPS - sure I don't have a Lexus anymore, but I would if they got the basics rights again, and I have always been a Toyota follower ever since my Dad had a 1969 Toyota Corona, then a Cressida in 1979, then my Corolla in 1990 (best Toyota ever) and Carina E in 1996. They were fantastic cars, and yes I do want both Toyota and Lexus to get it right again - these forums really help. I'm not loyal to any brand, which is why hop around, but it doesn't mean I wouldn't ever have one again... Agree with most of your comments but there is no company that is 100% perfect. Yes some people have had bad experiences and have been let down by some dealers and that is unacceptable and Lexus GB should look into all cases brought to its attention. However, the fact that some people have had bad experiences does not mean that those who have had good experiences are merely looking at Lexus via tinted specs. I have been driving Lexus cars (7 so far) since 2001 and my experiences have been nothing short of excellent, save for the below par customer services at Lexus Teesside as I have stated before. Yes issues should be sorted out quickly and as consumers, we also have a duty to present our cases to the dealer in a professional manner. Some conversations I over hear when taking my cars for service are beyond appalling. Some poeple behave as though buying a car entitles them to insult, or look at down on service personnel. No I do not work for Lexus - I feel the same about general customer behaviour towards waiters in restaurants. Sometimes, our behaviour can adversely affect the outcome from the dealer. I am not saying this applies in your case, but I thought a general comment on the subject is fitting given the context of the above posts. As another poster said we should treat others the way we wish to be treated!
  11. "If you are wondering if a particular car will fit in your garage - the Lexus RX 400h dimensions are 4750 mm long by 1845 mm wide by 1720 mm high - the boot size is 439 litres." http://www.carpages.co.uk/guide/lexus/lexu...-dimensions.asp
  12. You might be in luck, I think I still have a MKI mat I retained when I sold the car. Send me a pm if you're interested.
  13. A short answer absolutely dreadful! I know they are not a "proper 4x4" but i expected a hell of a lot better. Mine has just slid a full 60 yards when travelling at just 15mph! in a perfect straight line! no matter what i did nothing changed my direction, i slid straight across a t junction! I now need to follow this through with lexus because this surely cannot be right? Can anyone make a car this unsafe in this day and age? Watch this space. Sliding for at least 60 yards? That can only mean that you were traveling far too fast for the road conditions and misjudged the stopping distance to the T-junction. Sounds as though you also braked in the process. Nothing to do with the car in this instance I'm afraid.
  14. Enjoy the E90, and do let us know how the customer experience compares over a year's ownership; it would be very useful.
  15. You will not get anywhere fast in the 1 series. My neighbor abandoned his this morning after trying to venture out on minimal snow. His wife's Vauxhall Corsa managed to get him 3 miles down the road. My 400h on other hand went the full 30 mile round trip, including navigating a road with more than 6 inches of snow without the traction control light coming on once!
  16. Glad it all went without a hitch for you. Enjoy! By the way Vaistech also handles iPhone 3G, you just need to specify when ordering so that they include the correct cable in the price.
  17. Take a look at my other posting as I have just done the GROM AUDIO install on my RX! Thank you Normski, I'm still a little nervous about trying to take the units apart myself, but i really don't fancy paying the price of the GROM again on Lexus labour costs!!! Just don't drop the screw into the bowels of the car as it will rattle forever and the cost of recovering it will be much more than the saving you will be making by installing the unit yourself!
  18. Exactly the non commital answer I would have expected....... And it is the right answer because we all drive and use our cars in different ways. The answer could not be clearer: The belt should be checked at regular intervals after 59k miles and replaced if necessary, depending on the wear on the belt and associated parts, and the attitude to risk of the owner. Lexus cannot make the decision for us by stating a specific mileage - a car that is driven regularly in the Alps cannot have the same belt change point as one that spends most its life cruising at 80MPH on French auto roads, or one that averages 15MPH doing school runs and shopping trips in congested parts of Britain's major cities.
  19. If you're keeping the car for a few more years, it makes sense not to take the risk. The Dealers are only recommending, whether you take it up or not is entirely up to you.
  20. Sorry to hear about your experience. I have been dealing with Guildford since 2001 and they have always been nothing short of excellent for both sales and service. I have bought five cars from them and have been happy every time. Their pricing on 2nd hand cars is a bit over the top (As you would expect for rip off Surrey) so my last purchase was from Lexus Teesside, where the service was shoddy at best. However Guildford sorted out all issues under warranty and were, again, excellent. They also seem to have now accepted that their pricing leaves much to be desired and the prices seem to be dropping. On the above point, I also run a Mercedes and my experience of their service dept is that it's all smoke and mirrors in a very flashy building with, admitedly, a very nice coffee machine. Their pricing and charging plan is ridiculous. For example, I took my car into Lexus for a grinding noise inspection, they had the car for half day, provided an RX400h as a courtesy car and found nothing following their 'test drive'. I also took my Mercdes in for a check on a loss of power incident I suffered and they too had the car for half a day, provided no courtesy car and found no faults. Both Lexus and Mercedes advised me to go back if the issue reocurred. Total charges at Lexus Zero, total charges at Mercedes £120. Furthermore, I wanted to service my Mercedes (B Service) and was quoted £750 at Guildford after 10% discount for being loyal ! Decided to drive the car to Mercedes Weston-Super Mare, where I paid £280. Work that one out!
  21. Changing an 06 RX for a Rav4? Why? You will miss the RX when its gone!
  22. Not sure about the 3G and lexus iPod kit (Actually it is a Dension kit, so have a look on their site for compatibility) There is no warranty issue with the Vaistech kit. It simply plugs into the back of the headunit, there are no technicalities involved. Mine was fitted in 15mins flat. I fitted it myself in previous RX (took 3 hrs because I'm not technically gifted and was worried sick about getting it wrong and dropping a screw into the bowels of the car to rattle for ever!) by following instructions posted on this site. The warranty issue is a red herring!
  23. The feature is available on the Mk1 RX300 and the MKII GS but not on the RX400h. I think it is also available in the LS430
