  1. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=TZKW1yy6HYc there's a sound clip. Look for a 1jz occupying my engine bay by 09'
  2. most likely swaybar links. I have same symptoms and swaybar links are totally finished. get them checked.
  3. its a nightmare to change the filter, get someone else to do it :D
  4. Castol is a semi-synthetic AND NOT FULL SYNTHETIC - and due to a loop hole is called full synthetic, following a lengthy lawsuit. Castrol's origins hark back to castor bean oil and generally speaking isn't fully synthetic. However i've had several laps of a local race track (10+) at 135 degrees celcius (unbeknown to me is complete and utter engine suicide) and the 1g-fe copped it no problem, and still makes similar power to what it did when i aquired the car 60k miles ago. HOWEVER, the 1g-fe is a really, really, REALLY conservatively built and 'tuned' engine. At a recent track meet, my IS saw over 6 hours of continuous rev-limiter-bashing treatment by me and 5 other drivers over 350km of track work and the thing NEVER missed a beat. It still starts no problem and pulls as hard as it did from day one. Notwithstanding HOT australian weather conditions. It ran the whole day on castrol edge with no problem. However though my DEFI oil pressure gauge, i've noticed quite a large drop in oil pressure in all driving conditions using Royal Purple Fully Synthetic oil. A drop in oil pressure relates loosely to a higher flow rate or viscosity... which is essentially what you want from an engine oil. Thickness or thiness doesn't matter, viscosity is the key. My point is, the 1g-fe will be bullet-proof regardless of which engine oil you use, but if you want the best for whatever reason, castrol edge is not what you should use.
  5. things are going to happen soon marketh my words
  6. i've got Hertz HSK165 Splits in the front of my IS200, they don't work with standard headunit or standard amp. I highly recommend any pioneer headunit (they all give the same sound quality from the base model to to the flagship - same MOSFET chip) and aftermarket speakers and an amplifyer to drive the speakers.
  7. thanks for the kind words folks, i enjoy this car every single day - never stops making me smile the supra brakes are an amazing upgrade, are they not? Jamie - i LOVE bottom, saving up for season 3rd season. Eddie and ritchie ever cease to amaze me. Bieng half english i guess it is in the blood!
  8. does anyone know if the is200 and is300 radiators are the same/similar?
  9. someone from altezaclub aus is doing a group buy, $30 US each... "cheap as chips" lol
  10. What does everyone think of these designs for a t shirt? Had a mate just e-mail me these designs i think they look toight
  11. good lord! makes me think twice about replacing my current cat with a high flow item :S
  12. first of all, the teins will just bolt up. I think the pillow mounts they come with will be fine. However they will be really, really soft. Like softer than standard.. yuck! If i was you, i'd look at a set of Buddy club N+ damper... they have those in england right? Either get a set of those or tein flex.. super street are also way, way too soft. Also, d2's a the worst coil overs ever made. How do i know this? I work in the aftermarket parts industry. D2's, K Sports, G4's HDS, they're all utter crap. Get teins, buddy clubs, or some other Japanese brand of coilovers Buy a quality set of coilovers now, so you don't have the replace them agian in only 6 months.
  13. i think it looks poo but if it is what you like, then all good :D
  14. my front right speaker blew, and so i replaced it with a set of Hertz HSK165's with full sound deadening on the door and door skin and i haven't looked back. Best money i ever spent on my is. The stock speakers are ****, get rid of them!
  15. its not really required (my girlfriends audi has done 190,000km's without a timing belt change, and the belt is still in top shape) but yeah, probably worth doing whenever you can afford it. I suspect my car has done around 130,000 km (car was sold to me with a low km cluster instead of the original one grrr) with no timing belt change - and no problem! as someone mentioned previously - peace of mind thing :D
  16. its going to be years before i can do anything motor wise! for now i'm reaching for that 100kw atw rainbow the v8 doesn't look all that tempting, as its an extra serious amount of weight! Gotta reduce weight... but i'll reserve my judgment until i get a ride in mos's machine
  17. from my own personal experience, removing the CAT from the exhaust system attains zero power gain, and hikes the fuel consumption massively. Replace the catalytic converter with a high flow item. Your wallet, rear bar - and the environment will thank you
  18. custom 2.5" exhaust (extractors back) with 'metal cat' high flow cat converter soon to come :)
  19. that is the power at the wheels. approximate 1/3 drive train power loss. So take original flywheel BPH figure, and multiply by 0.66 and you're close to your wheel figure. Its actually quite a reasonable figure! Just FYI i got 89.6KILOWATTS at the wheels, and my mate with same mods (same wheels, same JUN flywheel and clutch) got exactly the SAME figure (89.6) with a kazama back box. In every single aspect, the Kazama seems to be a knock off of the HKS hipower item... although slightly larger barrel and slightly deeper tone... the power gain is the same.
  20. kinway motorsports in the US do the original JDM spec headlights for pretty danm cheap... http://www.kinwaymotorsports.com/index.do
  21. 215/45 only, otherwise ride will be floaty, and handling will be poo
  22. easy mate buy yourself some bride seat rails and you can bolt them right in absolutely no problem. Bolt the seats to the rails, rails to the floor. I have a supplier that can help you out... about 250au for bride super low seat rail... will sit abot 5cm lower than stock which is fantastic... and much safer in a side impact accident. and then a TRD airbag light canceller to stop the blinking light I've got integra type-r recaros in my car... any more details ask me i'm happy to help my english lexus brothers
