  1. Hello everyone, currently my car requires two oxygen sensor's both of them does not give a resistance anymore and make the foult to appear. I have another 2 two that i used before but the voltage they give me when heated is too low and their are bad aswell! I have 4 another sensors and they good, but all them 4 are for the very back of the engine, and i don't know if i can to shorten them and put on the closer to cyl 1 bank 1? Are they give the same voltage and has same resistance? I am also looking where could i buy them new is there any good location to get them? Toyota wants 600 Euro its a bit not in my price range. Other part shop's looking 300euro but don't know if they are any good. Thank you for any info provided.
  2. As the titles suggests. I'd like to either run a sports cat or decat the entire exhaust on my IS200 (52 plate) To be honest i really don't want to be messing around each year swapping the decat and original exhaust over. What would be the better option? £150+ on getting a sports cat manifold? £0+ Elbow grease bashing out the cat's internals? Would the O2 sensor start throwing problems at me if i remove the internals of the cat? Would it develop a nasty raspy sound from the engine due to the flow bouncing around the now hollow cat? My exhaust is already nice and shiny from lots of grinding and polishing so no need for looks etc... Anyone ran their IS200 decat or bashed out the internals etc..? Also how likely will it fail on emissions without a cat? Would i be looking at a good service before hand or adding a more restrictive muffler at the end for the mot? Thanks in advance.

  4. Hi. I joined this forum last week, prob good manners for me to at least say hi! I have just become the owner of an 04 plate is 200 Sport, see photo....... The last time i owned a lexus was 12 years ago and that was an is 200 se auto. This is a sport manual. When i had it serviced the mechanic said this car was quite rare, is that correct? I have 2 questions really and I hope some members could help answering them. 1. How many of these were sold in the UK? This particular version. 2. Can anyone point me to a list of the differences between this car and the "normal" model? Thanks in advance PS, Ref "differences", i dont mean the obvious ones (LOL) like the lower ride and bigger wheels. Thanks
  5. Posted up in the IS200 buyers guide bit too: Chance of getting an IS200 that someone is scrapping because of ignition coil problems. Looking at just over £300. Possible lower arm issues from what I read on the guide. Worth a punt?
  6. Good evening all, my first post (but not my first visit) to this fine forum. I have recently bought myself an '03 IS200 Sport and am loving it....however, after a couple of weeks of no faults, Saturday the alarm started sounding about 15 seconds after I lock the car with the key fob and has done it since. I searched around on the forum and found that this could be caused by a number of things, one of which is due to low battery voltage. This leads me to speculate that my battery is slightly discharged. long story short, I've put footwell lights in and have been doing other minor modifications to the interior and have been leaving my door open for several hours at a time , I really should know better! Also, this morning I noticed my alternator fuse had been blown by the previous and they had bodge it back together with a picture hook! I replaced the fuse today after my internal electrics went dead but everything on the constant 12V feed was working. Everything is back to usual and I assumed that the battery would charge back up to its previous level on my way home from work, about a half hour drive. When I got home I reluctantly locked the car with the fob and about a minute later the alarm went off. I have also read that there could be a fault with the internal motion sensor in the dome light but, as I said, the alarm only started going off on Saturday and hadn't given me any trouble which leads me to my first theory. Basically, is there anything else that could be causing my alarm to go off when I lock the car? I checked the voltage and current draw on the (new) battery and it's all normal so could it just need a quick top up of juice? Sorry for the length of this novel! Any help or insight into this would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks J
  7. Hi everybody, I have a 2002, 2.0L Lexus IS200 and I noticed oil leakage on the outside of the engine and I think it is the timing belt set. I will post some pictures (click on the thumbnails to see full image) and if anybody knows what could the problem be, please, please let me know. Thank you in advance.
  8. Hi Was wondering if anyone is aware of anyone, except Lexus, selling brake disc shield/guards for a 2003 IS200. Was trying to look around before forking out roughly £32 for a circular piece of metal. I understand it might be possible to run the car without the shield but would rather I had it on the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Hi there. I bought my partner a 2001 IS200 for christmas as her Astra had been constantly unreliable (oh the irony!). I went to view it with a friend who is a master tech at Toyota, and looked over everything possible at the time. We both concluded that it was a pretty sound car. Driving home tonight, the engine management light came on and the engine sounded a little unhealthy. This was only a mile from home, so decided to persist and have a look when we got back. The engine then grumbled and cut out completely. I could hear a bubbling noise coming from the engine, although it hasn't lost any coolant or oil. Having had a quick google, I'm thinking either the thermostat or radiator fan? My mate who works for Toyota is (annoyingly) on holiday until next week so I can't ask him. Any info/suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, James
  10. Hi all, I'm looking to buy a Lexus IS200 again after stupidly selling my 2000 SE model a few years ago. I have £1000 available (unless anyone is interested in a 1999 Vauxhall Vectra 2.0 SRI with full factory fitted Irmscher kit and letterbox exhaust as part ex) and am looking for a SE or Sport model, not too worried about mileage but could do with some MOT on it. If anyone has anything availabe, please get in touch. Cheers
  11. Hi folks, I damaged my Drivers side (right) tail light on my 2003 Sport cross the other day. I bought a replacement used off ebay only to realise the replacement was slightly tinted which was a feature of post 2004 models. Does anyone have Either an ordinary chrome (pre 2004) Drivers side light I can buy off them (for no more than £40) or swap for the tinted one, OR a Passenger side tinted one to be bought or swapped etc etc. Thanks Matt
  12. Hey Folks, My name's Joel and ive had my Is200 for just over a year now. It's my first car as i didn't want any little shoebox car for a first and being 22 when i passed my test was a boost for insurance etc. So from the start.... Pic Heavy... If you have any questions just copy the photo and write and question below it :D
  13. The stock player in my wife's IS has finally yielded to ERR1 and it can't be cleared by the usual power off/on or clean the lens routines. She wants to keep the unit so I'm looking for repairers - any recommends? It's the top-loading unit. I've seen one on eBay @ £220, but wanted to check any others. Thanks in anticipation :-)
  14. I'm a new and very happy IS200 (manual) owner, but i have a problem... I can't manage to get the reverse gear to pop in. My knowledge and the information that i've looked up says that i should push it down and then go left. But i can't get in, how do i do it :D? Thankful for answers, bless you guys!
  15. Hi Forumers, I'm lucky new owner of my Lexus IS200. Unfortunetly when I'm buying my Lexus I won't check mirrors control (setting and folding) and it doesn't work... Meanwhile after buy I also replace car battery, and first thought was fuses. I found something some manual: http://i.imgur.com/AcdMdvR.jpg (I can't set it as image) And I check these two fuses : MIR HTR and RADIO NO.2 and both are OK. What else I should check? Anyone have similar problem? Big thanks for any clues.
  16. Hi All, Got an 04 IS200 Limited Edition (hopefully you can see in my pic) - though i don't know exactly what is particularly unique about it I'm so happy to own this car, when i was about 10 I saw one and wanted it from the moment I saw it. Still to this day - I think this is the best looking car on the road and now I have one, I'm loving it! Just dropping on here as I have a few questions to ask and wondering if anyone can help? 1. How exactly is a LE different from the rest of the IS200 range? - Research would dictate that this is loosley based on the Platinum edition available is Australia, minus the grey leather seats - The only things I can tell are the center console and the self leveling headlights am I missing anything? 2. Whirring clutch noise - Being a little OCD on the condition of my cars I have come to notice a whirring noise that can be heard, if silent enough to hear a pin drop, both inside and outside my car whilst stationary. Any ideas? Throwout bearing? - Goes away when clutch is depressed. 3. Clutch pedal squeak - Sometimes when i push in and out on the pedal I can hear a squeak. Do I need to be worried about this? 4. In the LE a satnav does not come as standard - tactically made this decision as I deemed the hereditary one would be outdated and probably not supported by Lexus. I can see you can buy the unit cases online and was wondering if anyone on here has ever put a tablet/sat nav in one? - If so what size? How easy is it to wire up the looms for the fold up and down buttons etc...? 5. Brake creaking - When i am pulling into my drive (Which is uphill and on a bend) - when i am turning the wheel I can hear my brakes/wheels creaking like under some sort of unusual pressure anyone else experience this? 6. Any common IS200 issues i need to be aware of/ prevent - Looking to keep this in tip top shape as long as possible and any other useful advice would be very much appreciated. 7. If there any big IS200 owners meetings that are going on soon would be great to know about them, want to be nosey and see/ get some ideas off what people have done to their cars :)
  17. Hi all, I think this is my first post, I haven't use the forum in a while so I'll reintroduce myself if I haven't already done so. I'm Dill, 21 years old from Leicester. Have been driving a IS200 sport for around 4 months now that was acquired off my father who no longer needed it. Have loved driving it so far, the silky smooth straight six is just ace. Just thought I'd post a link for you all, I'm aware that a lot of Lexus IS and users of other models have issues with the key casing cracking and breaking due to the poor design of the shell. Since I acquired my lexus I have had the OEM key break on me, which had cracks in it when I acquired the car, and two non branded lexus keys also crack and snap. I was surfing on eBay looking for genuine Lexus keys and I came across these OEM Denso keys from Hong Kong and for a couple of quid they look like a steal so I ordered two. What I plan to do is take the innards out of the two aftermarket keys I have at the moment, put them into these Denso keys that I have just ordered, then take them to a local auto locksmith to have the keys cut down to size. Anyway heres the link and I hope you find it useful, as soon as the keys arrive I'll be reviewing them and letting you know of my experience. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.XBlack+Remote+Key+Keyless+Entry+Fob+Replacement+Case+Blade+Shells+For+Lexus&_nkw=Black+Remote+Key+Keyless+Entry+Fob+Replacement+Case+Blade+Shells+For+Lexus&_sacat=0 Thanks and I look forward to speaking to you all soon! Dill

I just checked to see if I have power at the fuses in the fuse box and I don't. I also don't have power at the headlight connector.
