Double Din Installation (Help Needed)

 Share

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to replace the OEM stereo with a double din unit but not sure whether or not I need to bypass the stock amp since some say that the rear speakers will not work if I do not bypass it.

Many thanks for helping ^_^ and please tell me which harness do I need, cheers!

(New double din head unit is Alpine CDE-W223R)

Am also interested in doing the same and would appreciate any input ! :)

Although I have a 1999 IS200 Sport Navigator and was wondering if the OEM Sat Nav will be able to plug into (most or some?) new stereos for the voice directions? For example, the Alpine mentioned above? :whistling:

Also would this be a good fit? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-IS-200-300-Series-Single-Double-Din-Stereo-Fascia-Panel-Facia-Adaptor-/350637142214?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item51a39a30c6&_uhb=1

You need to check to see if you have the AMP as the SE & SPORT models came with the AMP it is behind the glove box to the left hand side.

Yes, I do have an amp behind the glove box, so do you know which wiring harness do I need?

Is it PC2-93-4? or PC2-105-4? or something else...

Cheers

I'm getting this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270643336934?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

They are both the same but it's slightly cheaper... XD

I have a pioneer double din & the PC2-93-4. I found when fitting it that the permanent 12v & ign live are joined at the head unit end so had to split these for it to work correctly. Also the speaker wires were ok front to rear but left & right was the wrong way round so instead of cutting them I used a needle to pop the clip pins out of the plug & put them the right way round. Other than that the lead was ok. It did the job but I had to remove my amp to get to the plug as it was at the rear of it but my friend didn't as his plug was at the front.

Finally installed it, I used PC2-105-4 wiring harness adaptor and all speakers work well. Most difficult thing was trying to unplug the cable off the amplifier (crowded area), other than that, everything else was pretty straight forward.

Stupid question... how do I check if the amp is behind the glove box?
