  1. Past hour
  2. My 350h (72reg) is still on 2040 and states that 'no software updates are available'; did the 2050 version get pulled by Lexus? 2nd Q; is there anything in 2050 of tangible benefit?
  3. Pop the rubber grommet out will stop it pooling for now . Look at resealing the rubber seal below the rear windows ..inside and out . Also inspect rear 1/4 window seals as it joins the roof seal.
  4. Looks an absolute work of art 😎
  5. Today
  6. Blue always a good colour for a project 😉 wheels with the wide rims look great 👍🏻
  7. Couple of points - a new RX is exactly the same in terms of touchscreen, bongs and the like. I think you would have to get a previous generation one to avoid them. Initially I felt the same re the bongs but as John says you turn them down ! - and get used to them you can turn them off but it is a bit of a faff Can you remember if the battery display also showed the %. If it didn’t then it has not had the update that has made all the difference in terms of range, particularly with the aircon / heating on Eco - seems to reduce range by about 10 miles out of 220. Rear screen, heated seats, radio and the like have no real effect on range. The radiant heaters are effective and again gave little effect on actual range. If it has had the update, the range is a forecast on the basis of previous drives so it will dive if previous drives have ‘gone for it’ Sorry if the above seems a bit defensive but after a year and importantly the update, I have now think the upsides outweigh the downsides - but I am not a road warrior.
  8. Alex, 4 hours of cheap elecricity charges my car to about 80%. I don't do long journeys every day any more, so that suits me fine as 2 nights of charging takes me up to 100% even with daily trips to the local shops. Interestingly, I did a longer journey today and now the weather has warmed up I achieved 48.2 miles on EV alone, up from 39 or 40 miles in the cooler weather.
  9. Wild West ? No we are fast becoming EU leaders in pot-hole manufacturing Leaders in exporting stolen car thanks to our East EU residents
  10. Thanks for the early replies and welcome, Ive still got my full steering covered disk locks which I last used on my classic car, as for my Ux and LBX I have fitted trackers but I think I will go down the EOBD plug relocation and fit a dummy plug in the EOBD plug position which will be cheaper than £1000 for 2 CAN immobiliser systems plus Lexus can't knock back any warranty issue as Ive not interfered with the cars system Ian
  11. Called in to a dealer to check the issue of the security plate was something dealerships were aware of. The Leeds dealer knew exactly what I was on about but said the security plate was being fitted only to the NX and RX at this moment in time but going forward all models known to be affected will have a security plate but the LS was still awaiting release. I got a reply from Lexus Customer Services when I advised them my car appears to be affected but as Colin Barber said it's all about the manufacture date rather than the registration date. They looked into my car again and established the following: As your vehicle’s production date is 22.09.2017, this means that your vehicle does not fall between the affected years for the LS model. The affected years are 10/2017 – 09/2022. So 8 days before the start of October 2017 was enough to know my LS was not susceptible to CAN bus injection theft. Who Knew. WHAT BOTHERS ME IS THAT A THIEF DOESN'T KNOW WHEN MY CAR WAS BUILT SO RIPPING MY BUMPER OFF IT'S MOUNTINGS IN AN ATTEMPT TO CONNECT TO THE HEADLAMP WIRING WILL STILL RESULT IS COSTLY REPAIRS EVEN IF THE CAR CANNOT BE REMOVED OFF MY DRIVE. What's the point, this country is like the wild west and beyond saving.
  12. ….my 60th post and 2.300+ View’s to date ! to thank you all for your continuing support and repeat visit’s I am going to make you an, exclusive, one off offer by releasing to you the advanced detail of an extremely rare ( I believe ) item destined for our ‘The Buy and Sell Accessorie’s Forum’ ! 🤔🤔🤔🤫🤫🤫. Malcolm, yes, I have recently received a provisional interested party - early day’s but will keep you all in the loop ! ….the exclusive, one off offer to you, dear reader, is a set of 4 Lexus, year 2000, LS 400 Repair Manual’s published by The Overseas Service Division of The Toyota Motor Corporation ( in the USA ). apparently now no longer available from the supplier I imported these directly at considerable expense awhile ago. these tomes remain unused, unopened and sealed in their original shrink wrap ! ….you really, really have to love, indeed adore, your Lexus ( in this case The LS 400 ) to invest in these 4 comprehensive technical bible’s ! copy for the forthcoming ad is currently under construction but I am delighted, to release to you all, the associated photo’s that will follow the ad !… I shall return 😳🙄😲☹️ anthony
  13. I measured the amp draw with the car unlocked and it's reading .13amps I take it this is the clock and radio settings using this. I mostly only use the car twice a week unless the weather is really bad and this is for round trips of over 20 miles. The battery is 70 amp hour so shouldn't go flat in 4 days. I think I may have left the side lights on and didn't notice the warning buzzer which is working ok...
  14. I think the ones from sc430 mods are all tested before he sells them and he probably sources them from a more reputable supplier , if your only paying £30 I wouldn't expect it to be that good, or to last very long .
  15. Don't assume it's the fuel cap I'm sure P0420 can be several things , the tiniest exhaust leak near to the cats can cause this code .
  16. Thanks for extra info Kev. Yes, my wing mirrors fold in but I have not tested the other functions. As an update, I stripped the driver’s side mirror and swapped the motors over between L/R and U/D to check whether it was a motor or switch/wiring issue. Turns out one of the motors was unresponsive, but I sprayed it internally as best I could with DWF and it came back to life. So all-told a fairly simple job, although I spent quite a long time trying to work out how to remove the mirror housing without breaking any of the securing tabs. Hopefully the passenger side can be resolved in the same way.
  17. It seems to be the way things are going. They can already hack your fridge and baby alarm and doorbell camera why not hack your car - it's already being addressed by some manufacturers. Imagine going down the M6 at 130mph (as usual😁) and someone in China turns the engine/battery off. Deadmeat💀.
  18. ….apologie’s for slight delay in responding - my Lexus LS 400 was working today collecting and returning home 6 ladie’s ( not all at once 😲! ) from a social centre c 20 miles’s from my home location ! Ken, thank you for your kind note and following the so kind post from Malcolm, 19 hour’s ago, was going to throw a cloak over the continuing storyline and assume the Christine adventure as concluded. ☹️. am rethinking, now 😲. however, being a dutiful Member, albeit a humble Contributor, of The Lexus Owner’s Club UK, I felt duty bound to respond to another honourable Member’s post ! would be good to keep The Car in Scotland, I agree with you Ken. she / him / other has become used to free parking, no rush hour’s, low volume traffic flow’s, no gridlock’s, few if any ANPR vehicle’s and low labour cost’s ( excluding the Big 5 Citie’s ) 😃 ! as a, now deregistered, ex M25 Parking Permit Holder - these benefit’s are unthinkable in The South ! I well know, having spent 69 year’s there ! 🙄. Malcolm, re your post concerning boot’s, following pix refer: anthony …..the 4 boot’s were £550 delivered, free (?) fitting by 5* refurber!
  19. Make sure you get an insurance quote before you commit to an RX4.
  20. It isn't just polos, astras and granddad's or whatever they call them, are courtesy cars...2 years ago some dope drove into the back of my RC and I got a BMW 430d convertible. What a pile of do do ! It rattled ,the cheap plastics squeaked and looked awful. Its one and only saving grace was the 3 ltr diesel engine.. pretty fast ..no wonder the Police use them.
  21. Well it seems that my Tesco renewal amount is very competitive. Chris Knott would price match -5% , and NFU were £150 more. So i think I'll bite the bullet and go with Tesco. It will be interesting to see if prices do come down once the fabled security enhancement appears - lexus are still dodging giving an available date for this!! My dealer has heard nothing to date. Just emailed CR again to see if there is any update. They really are being useless at resolving this.
  22. I had this on my 2014 RX. It affects more cars fitted with roof rails than not, a clue perhaps to the cause? Mine was diagnostic checked after I tried all the usual fixes, including Herbie's fix. I got it working for a few days and it packed up for good. In the end, the roof lining had to come off and the problem was discovered. Moisture seeps through, it seems, from the roof rail fixings (where fitted) and eventually builds up in the power control board, shorting it out. If only a little builds up, the tailgate will often start working again for a while but left in this state with moisture getting through, it will eventually fail. It's a design or manufacturing defect as far as i'm aware and ought really to be fixed under warranty. I had mine done after warranty when presenting Lexus with a reasoned argument so had to pay nothing to have the motor board replaced. Apparently the motor has burned out too although the odd thing is that it worked intermittently prior to replacement. That. too was replaced under warranty.
  23. Unfortunately I wouldn't touch a Stellantis-based Vauxhall and now it's a brand I purposefully avoid for that reason. It pains me to say that because they're a brand which I spent quite some time growing up with (with the factory nearby) and of course, friends and family who worked there for decades. My late grandfather was in the first batch of employees at the Ellesmere Port factory. I've owned a few, my father has owned several and both of us together have driven countless Vauxhalls and enjoyed them over the years. A Stellantis Vauxhall though? No. Sorry. They're poorer products after the takeover (obviously being little more than a mildly re-styled Peugeot/Citroen) and those 1.2 Puretech engines are showing themselves in their earlier French stablemates to not age very well at all. I don't understand car-pricing these days. We're seeing Fords, Vauxhalls, Kias, Hyundais e.t.c all trying to sell cars for premium prices. It's ludicrous. Speaking of hire cars, about six years ago I owned an Audi Q5. A fabulous car which unfortunately the nearside rear door ended up with a stone flicking up onto it whilst the grass was being cut in the unit next to ours (I was at work). It ended up putting what resembled an air-rifle like pellet dent right in the middle of the panel. So, I popped along to Audi for the repair only to be told all their cars which need repairs like that go to Volkswagen. Fair enough - the parent company. So, I drove along to the VW dealer where indeed repair the door flawlessly. Full credit to them. The problem? I was given a base model VW Up! as a hire car. Now, I'm generally not a snob. A hire car is a hire car at the end of the day, but surely if you take a mid-size SUV in for three/four days, surely someone there must have some sort of common sense to assume the smallest city car wouldn't be a suitable replacement? I would have been perfectly happy with a Golf or a Passat. But no - a dinky city car. A car which was fine pottering around town in, but back and forth to work (involving two motorway journeys a day) was a real chore. When I first started dealing with Audi on a personal basis in 2008 - you were basically given a courtesy car of similar size/spec to what you took in. For instance, when I had an Audi A4, they always given me an A4 at servicing time. On one occasion they given me an A6 Avant. I even managed to get an A3 Cabriolet and a TT coupe (with the Golf GTi 2.0TFSI engine) on other occasions. It was only in that final 18 months or so during my time with Audi they seemed to care much less and it was one of the main reasons why I moved.
  24. .......... and on a not so modern day car too it seems ........ did I relate about my 2006 Honda Legend dead as a dodo battery a few months back ........ called out the RAC ( at home ) who replaced the then tested and dead battery that THEY had supplied new on an earlier, 3.5 years back non-starting issue ..... replaced now ( free of course ) under the 4 year Varta warranty ...... but only for the balance of the original warranty ...... . but there, hopefully it should last another 3 years even tho' it is just a Varta battery ! I just think modern day car 12v batteries are not as robust nor as reliable as they used to be ........ now I'm thinking of my days driving my Wolseley 16/60 with an amazing Starting Handle 🤣 I seem to only use Yuasa on my Lexii 👍 Malc
  25. There are so many systems on Modern Day Cars that draw power from the small 12v Battery compared to Years ago..and If you don,t drive your car on a daily basis this can also effect the Battery Power...!!!!
