  2. Hi all! , new to the forum, I'm sure there's a thread about brakes for the is250, id rather just shout out instead of searching endless pages, what brake disks/pads do people put on their is250? is it just a euro car part job or is it something a bit more specific, obviously it comes down to budget but I just want to know what the options are Cheers 😎
  3. Hi all, Purchased a used 2020 Lexus IS 300H in black from Lexus Cambridge as an approved used car with 40k on the clock about 6 weeks ago and was very happy with it until today. The past few occasions previous to today when washing the car, i noticed scratches appearing. Now ive been dead careful with this car and it doesnt get parked anywhere often where other people will come into contact with it. Its on a drive at home and the office car park during the day. I just figured i needed to be more careful, but ive never had issues with scratches from washing before. I use the two bucket method with grit guards and hose the car down before washing. I bought some better shampoo for the car and was washing it today and noticed scuffs and scrapes appearing, as well as areas of white haze as if someone has applied tcut in the wrong way. Following the wash the drivers side was displaying horrendous scratching and scuffs, in addition the rear arch/boot panel appeared to be a dull brown with quite a noticeable difference in colour between the adjacent panel. Its fairly clear someone has performed a very poor paint repair in multiple areas, and the shampoo has just washed it off. The passenger side is fine except for a few of these strange white smear marks to the panel in between the roof and window. When i check the service history on lexus link, it does display an entry at Lexus Cambridge a few days prior to my purchase which only states 'Repair'. I hadnt seen the car until the day of the sale as it was transported from Lexus Burnaston, which is odd because im not even sure theres an actual dealership there. I believe its the Toyota factory. Lexus Cambridge just told me a previous Lexus employee who worked at the factory had the car. Sadly, i turned down their paint protection during the purchase, not expecting such a mess as this with a car sold by the dealership. The whole thing was very dodgy now i think about it. The car didnt have service history, which lexus didnt tell me until i realised through checking lexus link. I enquired several times about the service history and was told id be able to view it on the app once i had the V5, turns out the only service was a month prior to my purchase. I was so desperate for a car for work due to my old car being an absolute car crash with mechanical problems, i just accepted it after some very angry phone calls. I intended to make use of their service warranty until 100,000 miles anyway. The other odd thing was they told me theyd post me the second key as it was still with Lexus Burnaston. I called back weekly and eventually they said they do not know where the key is and they will provide and program another free of charge which im due to go in for this week. Can anyone tell me if im likely to be lumped with the cost of repairing this, or what has happened here? Something really has not been right with this sale and i cannot believe ive been suckered by a dealership. Does anything in the warranty protect me? Im worried they are going to say ive caused the damage, but i have not used anything abrasive like polish. I saw something stating the manufacturers warranty prior to 2021 cars is 5 years or 100,00 miles, is this correct? Thanks Christian
  4. that black lexus is tidy h3xme 😎 where did you get that bumper from? 👍
  5. ….Stephen, I understand your point - but I lifted that list off a highly reputable accountant site on t’internet ! have to assume the commanding officer of your p o w camp, in UK 🇬🇧 or Canada 🇨🇦, has given you permission to submit your post, just surprised ? anthony
  6. No, wasn’t that bad but it hadnt been prepped when I went, the touch screen was not in the car as it had a fault, plastic round window screen was cracked and brittle, couple car park dints but then again it is 2009
  7. @dutchie01 To start with your last remark: got my own driveway & a flat roof covered with solarpanels. So basically it doesn't matter too much for let say 350 days a year. The balance of 15 days it might matter as during those days we do a 350 km roundtrip to family and friends in the Randstad / Flevoland. But having said that we think that during those visits a splash & go at one of the public charging points will do the trick. 2 Years driving experience in a 64kWh Hyundai Kona learned us that on average we equal or even better the WLTP range as stated by the manufacturer. Time will tell is that is also the case with our UX300E And yes, although we only did a 70 km roundtrip on local country roads today, we are perfectly happy with our new EV. It leaves her South Korean equivalents dead in their tracks [so to speak]

  9. Well that was back on 5th March. The fault was eventually diagnosed as high pressure fuel pump failure and Lexus MK said they would order one in for replacement. In the interim we were loaned a UX300e electric car. A few days later I was given the shock news that the earliest the new pump would arrive was 6th April as it had to come from Japan. My wife and I had previously booked a trip to France but as a result had to cancel our original dates and rebook the ferry for later in April but we had to be back before the beginning of May as both my wife and I had been given early May dates for hospital operations. Then we received further shock news that the date for the pump to arrive had been pushed back until 26 April. In the meantime we had been promised a suitable loan car from Lexus GB (which we could have taken abroad) until the repair could be carried out but we decided to cancel our ferry booking again as there were too many unknowns and we didn't want to miss our hospital dates. The loan car duly arrived from Lexus GB. We were expecting from the paperwork we had received earlier that it was going to be an RX450+ plug in hybrid and we were quite excited as it would mean we could have a real world extended test drive. Unfortunately they had made a mistake and the car we received was "only" a non plug in RX albeit a brand new Takumi one with just 40 miles on the clock. The pump eventually arrived at Lexus MK on 26 April and was fitted and tested OK and we finally got our car back on 27 April eight weeks after it had broken down. I sent a letter of complaint to Chris Hayes, CEO of Lexus GB, outlining all the hassle and anxiety we had suffered and commented on the ridiculous amount of time it had taken for a simple part to travel half way around the world. The matter was of course handed down to their Customer Relations department and was dealt with by Stephen Hinshelwood. I must say that he took the matter extremely seriously and I managed to negotiate a very generous settlement from Lexus GB as a gesture of good will for all our troubles. Throughout all this Lexus MK, and Andrew Riley in their service department in particular, were absolutely brilliant and couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. It is great to have our dear old car back and, touch wood, it seems to be running better than ever.
  10. I took delivery of a new RX450h+ in March this year and at that point there was significant UK stock with a further shipment close to docking. I was able to get the exact spec that I wanted (colour/trim/options) without difficulty so speak to your dealer. Factory orders can vary in timescale but an order placed this month should be in the UK by August.
  11. Mine were over inflated too. I set them to the factory 2.3 bar and it really improved the ride.
  12. The LBX has the new e-latch doors like the NX/RX etc. so instead of pressing the button you pull it twice and that is a mechanical operation rather than an electronic one.
  13. Well I thought it was funny. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/REa7vL1TyrRDFavn/
  14. Fatality is usually finality too ……. But we all on here ‘ live to see another day ‘ Well, hopefully one at least 😄 Malc
  15. Ronnie my NX came with Bridgestone Alenza fitted and I have been very happy with them. My previous RAV4 PHEV came with the same Blue Earth tyres as your NX and definitely I favour the Bridgestones. I have heard good things about Michelin Cross Climates.
  16. You are a bit like my old wing commander. Upside down in a Lincolnshire ditch with your plane in one field and your head in the next. By that I mean your list shows a lack of knowledge that is financially fatal.
  17. Edward.... definitely set them to 33psi at garage temperature.
  18. Yes, just been told the 2021 model I'm about to buy is over £800 to tax but I think they got this wrong. After 6 years it drops (presumably to £180 that I'm paying on my RX3) based on the basic petrol rate minus a £10 discount for a hybrid. Daylight robbery. It's called the "wealth tax" and applies to all new cars after a April 2017 valued at (correct me if wrong) over approx £40K new. It's not exactly straightforward but goes something like this. From new, you pay the first year based on CO2 emissions, then on year 2 you pay( from 2 to 6 years) independent of CO2 and calculated purely on the car's new cost. So years 2 to 6 you pay a £410 supplementary charge on top of the basic charge (£190) for a car costing over £40K new plus, so £590 for the 2 to 6 years before it drops to £180. It's not as if we're not fleeced by vat rates on fuel, this is quite a hike for anyone buying any RX made after April 2017.
  19. Hi It's possible I'll order a factory build 450h+ next week. Anyone know what the current/usual lead times are? I assume they are built in Japan and then have a long journey around the world to the UK. Many thanks
  20. I can understand why you'd not want another lbx after that. Positively scary. If anyone else has this problem and are stuck, it may be worth trying this: press the footbrake firmly, then push the start button for about 15 seconds. Certainly in mine this forces the traction battery to start trying to charge the 12V system, and might give you the power to unlock the car at least. Check your user manual.
  21. Hi Paul, looked up Thule and certainly doable, have it longitudinal behind a seat, quick access flap down for viewing and openin in to boot area and exit as normal down the ramp
  22. Good point about the possible impact damage. No visible signs on the front. It's booked for this week so fingers crossed all goes ok.
  23. hi Paul, thanks for the ideas. Ideally a cage in the sense that the dog can see out and not so enclosed. The only problem with the "nobby" crate solution is the exit would be on a passenger door, it would have to a shorter /smaller version so the dog can exit out the boot. whats the Thule solution?
  24. I'm on my 3rd deep cycle 12v battery in 45K miles. They get replaced every 3 years as that's all I get out of them and they're not cheap! My last one was fitted 2 years ago and is still going strong. I've learned from the past so invested in a better charger/conditioner which keeps it in better health. If there's the odd week I don't use the car, I hook it up to the charger (a Cetek charger) and it seems to be the only way to get them to last. If you run them dead flat a few times, it doesn't do them much good so better keeping them in a healthy state to avoid issues.
  25. ….what a coincidence - Steve and Stephen have the same number’s on their aircraft ! thought 13 was unlucky - 14 is not much better guy’s, eh ! expect I’ll meet you both in the officer’s mess, at base, sometime ! Gang - a tip ! ……alway’s remember P E T R O L before you take off ! 😃 P petrol E electric’s T tyre’s R radiator O oil L light’s …that way, you won’t screw up when you go in for the attack ! 😳 🙄. sadly, Steve and Stephen - for you the war is over and, as newbie’s, you never fired a shot - sad 🤭 anthony
  26. Depends on what you want to spend. At one end of the spectrum you could fit a Thule aluminium rear entry cage (around £600 though) and at the other there's ones like this for just under £80: https://gallop-store.co.uk/72128-dog-carrier-nobby-pet-skudo-5-iata-grey-79x58-5x65-cm We used a similar but slightly large one ike this when we had our GWP and he was happy enough in it. I'd advise against the cheap steel mesh crates. Bases are cheap plastic and crack as soon as look at them and they're uncomfortable for the dog is it needs support on corners etc
