2002 Ls430 Newbie Question

Featured Replies

Hello, I'm new to Lexus, and indeed to the LOC. As stated I have a 2002 LS430. I was reading through the owners handbook (as you do) and it mentions the type of automatic transmission fluid, but my question is where is the aft dipsick situated?

I obviously looked under the bonnet and found virtually all the fluid access points but not the atf.

Could anyone give me a rough price for cam belt and water pump supply fit price.

Finally, regarding main (master) key. I do not have the key number. Would Lexus main dealer give me the number (given that I would furnish ID)?

Many many thanks,

Best wishes to all,

Bob.

Hi Bob , welcome to the LOC.

The dipstick is next to the Oil one but much deeper down. Some Main dealers will do a cam belt change for £295 on an older car which is a good price. It's worth getting a quote for the pump as well as it may work out less than an independent.

You'll need to speak to Lexus regarding the key.

Thank you gentlemen for your kind and prompt answers, they are much appreciated.

Its raining quite heavily in Bolton where I live, so will have a look as soon as the weather improves (British weather - don't you just love it).

Once again, many thanks,

Bob.

Hi Bob

You may find this of interest (from the US forum) http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls430/351074-diy-for-transmission-flush.html

If you check your transmission fluid level do it when it is hot.

I have done 240K miles in my 2002 and I don't believe there is a specified transmission fluid change interval. Keep an eye on the state of the fluid because it has a loop through the radiator and if it leaks it will probably mean a new gear box.

Cheers

Bren
