My vin number has a colour code of 212

my car documents say car is velvet black

Halfords mixing computer states colour code for 212 is obsidian black

I noticed a post from a Lexus dealer in 2013 state following

Velvet black is a non metallic paint code 212

obsidian black is metallic paint code 214

Halfords say the obsidian black code 212 is a straight black mix non metallic

So does anyone really know what colour code 212 is in UK

i am also sure when Halfords guy checked code 214 it was completely different

Thanks

Jim

I also found following from Lexus UK site

There is a metallic black alternative to the non-metallic Velvet Black / Obsidian that bears the 212 color

everywhere I go I am being told colour code 212 is obsidian black and Halfords

confirm its a non metallic mix as only one straight colour, so surely this must be

ok

OK just to clarify - 212 is Velvet Black in the UK but it is called Obsidian in the US.

So yes, it is the right colour.

The UK Obsidian Black metallic is code 214 and is called Black Opal pearl in the US.
