Hi all,

Anyone running a GS and change the tyres or wheels in the winter time to snow/winter tyres?

My IS was totally useless in the winter, and I eventually sold it after 3 1/2 years, but about to buy a GS 450h and want to know it'll get me out of my street (bottom of the hill) and, with care, safely to work etc.

Anyone have experience of this?

Brian.

HI

I also have a GS450h, yes I do use winter tyres and I do alot of miles in Europe during the winter period. They make a huge difference in all conditions. I run Nokian tyres but I would also recommend WinterConti from Continental.

No worries, search the interweb for the best prices. I believe I paid around £120. It will cost about £40 each time you change the tyres around on the rims.

Super.  Driven them in snow?

No not yet, only had the car a month. From what I've read there not as good as winter tyres but still good. And it saves changing tyres all the time which is what I wanted 👍

I wonder if the weight in the hybrid (batteries) over the rear axle will make it actually quite good in the snow. At least to get moving, maybe not stopping! We have winter tyres fitted but only had it a few months so no snow to test it out yet. I agree the IS wasn't the best in the snow.
