IS 220D will not turn over after light front end bump

Recommended Posts

i had a light front end bump in my 220d, resulting in front nearside (passenger) side headlight smashed to bits and bumper squashed in...the car never stalled and was still running whilst i sorted insurance etc out. i drove off and stopped, when i went to start the car nothing happened!!! the start button went through its normal start and dial sweep, press button it goes green, yet it does not say on display "press clutch pedal to start" and nothing happens, i have checked all fuses all fine, i can start the engine by removing the starter relay and linking it out the car drives and runs perfectly as well as roll it on a hill and bump it, yet it does not seem to send power to relay. i have checked all fuses too.....any idea ? is there a safety switch? i wouldn't have thought so as i can bump it or link out the relay thanks

ps i have bought a second hand headlight after a front bumper in silver if anyone selling one ! thanks

I don’t think they have an inertia switch fitted, Once you get the bumper off have a look behind there for any wiring damage or maybe a switch.

I tried looking for the diagram but couldn’t find one sorry.
