Usb/mini jack box issue

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a problem with my USB ports not working and was wondering if someone can solve my issue?

Long story short, I took the car to the Lexus dealership and they told me that I need to replace the whole radio unit, wire harness and the USB/mini jack box. Back at home I took apart the USB/Mini jack box and found that the MLC ceramic capacitor had leaked and shorted out. I replaced the USB/mini jack box with a secondhand unit, the jack port works and it lights up, but the USB's are not charging nor does my USB stick get regonised when I plug it in. The radio shows the USB icon as well as on the dash menu, but cannot be selected.

Could have the Lexus delearship program out the USB ports on the radio headunit, so iit won't short out with the old USB/mini jack box? Or could they be correct that the harness and radio is faulty? Also is there any key combination to reset/reboot the headunit or display a fault code if any?

Regards
Andy
