2.5tt Gt-t Vs. Gt-tl...

hi all... new on the forum... i'm doing research in these cars as i hope to be an owner of one in the coming months... can someone tell me what the difference is between the above two models please??? i've heard somewhere that the gt-tl is heavier or something... true??? what other differences are there???

They are heavier, because they are generally a better specced model. Soarer's genarally come pesonalalised with factory options, so a GT-T may be have more options than a GT-TL, but rarely. The GT-TL comes with TEMS suspension. Ie. electronically adjusted damping. When the car is in sports setting, the suspension will harden for better handling. The GT-T just uses coils without the additional TEMS unit. The GT-TL usually comes with things like leather, electric seats ect.

If you want speed, go for the slightly lighter GT-T, if you want a bit more toys and comfort, go for the GT-TL.

The 'L' stands for 'Limited' by the way!

Good luck with the purchase. Buy a good one, don't go cheap. Then you will be well chuffed with it. Fantastic cars:)

thanx carlos... thats makes alot more sence now... ideally i would prefer the tems... sounds like that is the main difference in the gtt and gttl...

realistically i'm looking at getting one in the summer... so i'm just doing my homework on the car now so there aren't any surprises when I do get one…

They are indeed fantastic cars. I can’t stop laughing at the power and acceleration. I don’t think that I am going to keep my license for very long, though. On reflection, I may have been better off buying a V8.

If there is a problem with the TT, it is that the engine is a bit wheezy below 3,000 rpm then the power comes in and it’s away. This is fine when the guy in the 911 next to you at the lights wants to race but not so good for normal driving. My LS400 is actually quicker below 3,000 rpm. Does that matter? Well, I suppose that it depends how much time you want to spend with the engine above that figure.

Having said that, I beat a Honda S2000 hands down yesterday. It felt rather good. Buy one.

Good luck. If you come to Gaydon tomorrow (sorry to post so near the time) I believe that you will see some Soarers. If you see the guy who owns K106 XXX it's me. No point describing it as the green Soarer - half of all the Soarers in the UK are green, I'm told.

I HAVE A 1997 2.5 G TT V V TI SINGLE TURBO. I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW FROM JAPAN AND SPECKED THE CAR AS BEST AS POSS TO THE COST THEN OF 44K. I HAVE UPGRADED ECU AND DE LIMITER THE CAR NOW IS VERY QUICK AND HAVE MATCHED IT AGAINST SOARER TT AND V8 LTD NO CONTEST. THIS PARTICULAR CAR IS VERY SCARCE ONLY ONE IN SCOTLAND THAT I NOW OF.

Yes indeed. I did meet London Bill face-to-face for the first time. I also spoke to BigBloke (a very nice man). It’s difficult for a new face to socialise, particularly in an established club where so many people already know each other. Perhaps one of the clubs should organise a “new faces” day, where all those people who are afraid to come to meets because they don’t know anyone could gather and mix? I imagine that that there are a lot of people who read LOC and TIF who would like to attend meets but who feel awkward about showing up on their own. How about it Steve?
