My front central undertray has cracked, I'm considering trying a plastic welding repair or possibly to pick one up from somewhere. Several LS 400s are being broken on eBay. Can anyone advise whether the later mark 4 undertrays fit the early cars and vice versa? Do any of you simply run without an undertray?

Certainly wouldn't run without a tray. The risk of grounding or something flying up makes me shudder!

How big/long is the crack? I think I'd be tempted to patch it. PITA the LS trays. So many fasteners and two different types

No I would not drive the car without an under tray the crap getting into the components around the front of the engine would be catastrophic.

Get some  light gauge aluminum sheet from a scrap yard and rivet a skin across the crack.
