Reluctant to spend big money, I have been internet surfing and found this page.

https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/oenumber/534400w102.html

The first 5 are listed as BONNET springs and the last two as BOOT

Towards the bottom are listed 2 boot air springs BUT both out of stock.

However the top item, Maxgear appears to be the same spec as the Ashika boot item.

If they are the same then these are cheap.

Is the boot spring the same as the bonnet one?

I am no expert on these things but are the specs the same, are they interchangeable?

I can't imagine they're the same, boot struts seem less spindly than the bonnet from memory.

https://www.amayama.com/en/part/toyota/6453053010 for the boot strut here, vs https://www.amayama.com/en/part/toyota/534500w080 for the bonnet. Different part numbers, could ultimately just be different fixings.

https://www.sgs-engineering.com/gsc2655-lexus-is300-boot-strut i fitted these no problem.

If you’re after boot springs I’d just suggest getting the SGS engineering ones BC99 has linked. I’ve fitted these to my 2010 F sport with a spoiler and it’s a little less smooth due to the additional weight of the spoiler but have had no issues.

Some people have fitted BMW struts on one side and this is the cheaper option.  However I would recommend this as that causes an uneven gap to form and both struts should be replaced at the same time to ensure longevity and prevent uneven wear and tear.

SGS also offer a service where you can send off your OEM struts to them and have them regassed and uprated. Updating the OEM ones to 380-400nM should easily take care of auto opening.
