Bad service on a good car

I'm looking at a 2015 ct200h with about 95k miles. My criteria for the car were that it had to have leather seats and the Mark Levinson sound system, and to my luck, I found 1 car that fulfilled both of my needs. It would pretty much be perfect for me, since I do 90% city driving and only care about comfort, reliability and the sound system.

Only problem is that the previous owner of the car pretty much just serviced it yearly despite how much he drove. Here are the service intervals.

10.5k miles 7.5.16, 21k miles 5.23.17, 31k miles 6.20.18 (looking pretty good so far, eh?) car changes owner, 50k miles 6.24.19, 77k miles 17.9.20. And nothing until the 95k mark

How bad is this? This is the only CT200h that matches my criteria in Sweden, (I'm Finnish but cars are badly equipped and super expensive here. You save thousands by getting cars from Sweden or Germany) so I would really like this car.

P.S It gets pretty cold here. Is it possible that the Battery is already going out due to the freezing temperatures?

Welcome to the forum.

Leather seats in the CT are not leather from animal, but synthetic. Very good but not leather no matter what Lexus calls it.

The ML audio is great.

We are very happy with the CT we have.

Buying a car in Sweden and using miles? Swedish miles / UK miles? KM?

Reason for servicing yearly is to keep the hybrid Battery warranted longer than 5 years.

12V Battery is needed only for starting the computer and if a new is needed it is not a very expensive part; Lexus in Spain charge 115€ installed. One of the few things Lexus has that are not overpriced.

If price is right for you, and the car looks fine it should be good for many more kilometres.

Alright thanks!

Yeah I changed the KM's to miles only to now realize that it says United Kingdom under the forum banner 😄 For some reason I always think that every forum outside of the Finnish language is US based.

And yeah I'm mostly just worried about the state of the engine since it seems that the previous owner did up to 40k kilometers without changing the oil. But yeah, should be fine as long as I keep up with the services. The dealer also agreed to do a service before the car changes owners.

Good luck. 40K kilometres without changing oil is much, maybe oil has been changed by the owner in a non-Lexus garage.

Is global warming coming to you up there? Down here it is warm as always and now we have a volcano erupting a few hundred kilometres away.

Global warming hasn't really had any major effect here. The summers have been a bit warmer these past few years, but the Finnish weather cycle of cold winters and rainy summers with sleet in the transitions has kept its place.

And I'm gonna ask the dealer if they know if the previous owner did any oil changes. I've seen what 40k kilometers on the same oil can do to an engine. Not a pretty sight.
