Injector replacement help!

Hi all,

New to the forum and in need of a lil help with my IS200 2012 diesel.

It's coming up with an injector fault, and I was told a Rav4 2012 injector would work so I've bought the Rav4 injector but now the old one is out there is small visible difference in them.

Do any of you kind ppl know what injector would suit other than Lexus own as HUGE price difference.

Thank you,

Caroline

Hi Caroline and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. Since you've researched injector problems and you've taken out the offending injector (Well done you 👏) then I don't think there's a problem putting the rav4 one in. It'll either work or not. Yes genuine Lexus prices are too ruddy expensive for a number of parts.

RAV4, Verso and Avensis share the same engine, but it depends on the age as the injector part changed over the years. A quick check on toyodiy.com suggests the part you need is 23670-29125, but please double check before ordering something.

The injectors need coding into the ecu to control their metering fuel quantities.

I was told any other part numbers are not compatible.

worth speaking to a Denso injector repairer on this.

I can’t understand why the rav 4 one wouldn’t  work but may underfuel. Car may run but throw up codes.

For example, putting a number 4 injector in number 3 position when reassembling will cause overfuelling resulting in black smoke due to ECU not communicating the correct fuel quantities specific to the injector and resorting to ‘off limit’ setting causing over supply and black smoke.
