prefacelift door on a facelift car

Recommended Posts

my 2005 ls430 was in a nasty accident which left bad scrapes on the side of the front passenger door. there is someone breaking a prefacelift 2001 ls430 and he has a door for around £100 that is in much better condition then mine. are these compatible?

i have keyless entry on my car and it appears the new door does to as it has the black button on the door handle - do both versions of the car use the same system/connectors for the keyless lock/unlock and do they have the same speaker set up and modules etc...

also both cars are silver but are they the same colour or will there be a difference?

thanks

Hi Gary and welcome to the LOC.

I’m surprised you’re not going through your insurance?

Having said that they would probably write the car off!

The later models had various cosmetic changes made but I can’t see Lexus redesigning the body and doors so I would say it would fit.

Electrically they should also be the same, as far as I know the door ECU is not coded to the car.

The early models (pre facelift) did have problems with the laminated windows going cloudy so check that and they tended to rust where the trim fits across the door.

with the possible advantage of a cash pay-out and leaving you with buying it back as a Cat N ............. if it's a " keeper " for you of course

My Saga insce write-off resulting in my now cat N was coz of a rear door smack at Saga repair estimate of £1500+  ....  duly " sorted " satisfactorily for me,  tho' of course not a brand new door as there just aren't any available anywhere :wink3:

Malc

BUT of course depends if it has to be an insurance claim  ....  as in my case where I unhappily smacked a Porsche ( well deserved eh ! ) or if a 3rd party might be covering the cost .
