NX450+ key fob battery replacement

Recommended Posts

Hi

I passed through an adventure to replace the key fob Battery and I think worth to inform others.

In the internet and in the official manual prompt you to place a screwdriver in the middle of the key where the is a slotting and twist it so to separate the two cover parts.

In my NX450+ (10/2022) key there's no slotting and luckily didn't destroy the key.

After the "booming" and whilst assembling the pieces of the key noticed that it opens just by sliding the top side of the key.

So easy.

No tools no pressure.

If your key has not slotting just slide the top side.

If your key has a slotting use screwdriver.

Thanks for reading and be careful.

The battery only lasted 12 months? Is that to be expected?

Mine started to go off at about 11 months and was completely flat by the time it went for its annual service. I wasn't expecting this as the Battery in my last car was still going strong 5 years later.

I suspect (but do not know for a fact) that if the key and the car are in close enough proximity they ping each other and wear the Battery down. I did notice my Lexus manual has instructions for how to put the fob in a Battery saving mode.
After having to replace the new fob from my second key that recently came but I have never even used it was clear that the fob uses Battery unless it is locked or disabled. How else could a stored fob run down in so little time?
