Do you have a Toyota dealer near you at home ?

Yes, there is a Toyota dealer at St Boswells that I phoned last week, explained what I needed, and they said they would call me back but they haven't. I do understand that the Toyota dealers have access to all the same service manuals and parts that a Lexus dealer would have so it's not a bad option.

I have made an enquiry with East Coast Sports Cars who have been good to my Porsche 924 to see if they can do it. While on the phone they admitted they haven't much experience with the SC 430, they do service a number of luxury brands like Bentley, Maserati and Infiniti. They said they would let me know if they recon they can do it or not. Else, plan b would be Toyota St Boswells.

I’ve done my own timing belt ..it’s very logical to do, the independent sport car dealer should be able to do it . Dozens of YouTube clips of how it’s done if they need to see how it’s done .
Poor show for Toyota not getting back to you …chase them up.

Your likely chosen provider sounds like it could be very expensive hourly costs ……. I would use the Toyota main dealer if indeed you didn’t have faith in an ordinary competent garage with labour rates probably 50% of the Main Dealer

It’s your choice and although an often once in a cars lifetime in one’s ownership ……. it’s still good to save ££££ knowing the task is done 100% competently ……. I left my chosen garage to order all the parts too when I had my Ls400 one changed

Good luck whatever 👍

Yeah that’s fair it might cost a bit from the independent sports garage, but I’d have guessed they would still be cheaper than a Toyota dealer. The Indy sports car garage charge £75 per hour, which is less than the £100 to £120 per hour most dealers tend to charge these days. You are right I could probably get it done cheaper, but given how essential it is to the life of the engine I’d rather not go with the cheapest quote possible.

Sorry for the bump - last two replies have been me so apologises if it looks like I'm talking to myself, but hopefully someone else will find this information useful.

Lex-Tek Autos in Sheffield have given me a really good quote of £550 to get the timing belt and water pump replied using official Lexus parts, so I am going to use them.

Hi @Niskus I'm about 30 miles from Lex Tec and used them recently for my timing belt and pump changed. I think you're (as am I) onto a winner here with Dave at Lex Tec. I was actually gonna suggest him but didn't know how far away you were.

No, you're not talking to yourself as often the threads get read with any replies as there simply isn't anything constructive to add from the members. Glad you're sorted...
