Windscreen fan noise?

Recommended Posts

Bought a Series IV RX 450h.

The fan seem very loud, even at minimum setting.  The car takes longer to demist and longer to warm up than I expected.

Two questions:

Does this model tend to make a lot of noise when the blowers are turned on?

Could the condenser be knackered causing the other symptoms?

Yes when you press the front de-mist button the blower fan goes into warp speed, but quiet at normal speeds.

Turn the temp to LO and see if you get cold air.

Warming up do you mean the engine temperature gauge or just does not feel warm?

It's loud even on the lowest setting, like you'd expect if it was on the highest.

The cabin takes longer to warm up than I expected.

I notice the same thing about the fan noise on my slightly older, previous-gen model. Sometimes I press the button to knock it down a speed, but it's already as low as it can go.

I suppose the rest of the car is so quiet that its more noticeable than it might be, especially when I'm sitting/dawdling along in traffic and the petrol engine isn't running.

The windscreen is supposed to be heated isn't it?  It's the Premier model, so has almost everything.

No heated windscreen, other than a small area to release frozen wipers from the glass.

Check you aren't in recirculate mode, which can be noisier, and also worth checking your cabin filter behind the glovebox isn't blocked (or missing).
