Door mirror not lowering when reversing

Featured Replies

Hiya i'm back again, my lovely Nx300h doesn't lower my mirrors when reversing, I hear a strange hydraulic noise when reverse gear is selected, and I think it should operate my door mirrors, but doesn't, why else would it make this sound, and also makes said noise, when taken out of reverse. I know it's there somewhere 😂🔎

I have not had my NX long so I’m no expert but put the car into reverse with foot on the break and adjust mirrors to where you want them and when done set memory.

There may be a setting somewhere in the myriad of options I cannot remember but I had a similar problem and found a post on how to do this.

If your NX is anything like my UX. To get the door mirrors to dip when selecting reverse, the door mirror controls need to be set to adjust the left or right side mirror. If the controls are set to the ‘neutral’ setting, the mirrors don’t dip.

It’s a bit of a weird annoying way to control this behaviour. You think it would be a car setting within the infotainment panel.

Make sure the door mirror switch is down on left. Select reverse, adjust mirror to desired tilt, take out of reverse, mirror will return to normal elevation. Next time you go into reverse mirror will adjust to what you selected. Switch to select left mirror adjustment should remain depressed. If you switch it to the right position left will not tilt.

Mirror switch is normally on the door. As said, ensure the left mirror switch is selected.

Good luck 😀

Is this a new car for you?

Or have you had the car for a while and the mirror lowering function has stopped working?

This is the instructions from my manual which agrees with previous posters.

When the mirror select switch is in the “L” or “R” position, the outside rear view

mirrors will automatically angle downwards when the vehicle is reversing in order to

give a better view of the ground.

To disable this function, move the mirror select switch to the neutral position (be-

tween “L” and “R”)

With the shift position in R, adjust the mirror angle at a desired position to set the

mirror angle used when the vehicle is reversing.

The adjusted angle will be memorized and the mirror will automatically tilt to the

memorized angle whenever the shift position is shifted to R from next time.

The memorized downward tilt position of the mirror is linked to the normal position

(angle adjusted with the shift position in other than R). Therefore, if the normal

position is changed after adjustment, the tilt position will also change
