Service Costs?

Hi,

My IS200 sport is to have its first MOT this week and Lexus Birmingham have quoted £43 which i think is reasonable. At the same time i am due an 80K service and for that they want just over £400 including parts, labour and vat. Is this correct?

MOT price sounds about right (though I thought it was 42 quid? all MOT stations have to charge exactly the same amount).

Servicing prices do seem to vary considerably between dealerships so it might be worth ringing round a few first (your local dealer might price match one further away if you haggle a bit).

My IS200 just went in for a 3year/30k service and that was about £150. I was told that the next service (4year/40k?) would be a major one and would cost about £400.

It's also worth mentioning to them that you're a Gold LOC member - you could get a discount.

The MOT for mine was 35 too (after LOC discount). I thought the dealers weren't allowed to do this so I just kept quiet!! :winky:

Ah right, I thought it was the other way round (ie. enforced by the government to prevent mot testing stations competing with each other and risk cutting corners on the test). I stand corrected.

i know its a lot for such an easy strip down but trying to get that Crank pully bolt

undone (tightened by sumo wrestlers)

can't you get your mot done by anyone?, cos local garages charge about £25, with free re-test if you fail.

thats what i was thinking my local garage charges £22.£43 seems a lot of dough for an mot

I have just had a 4year service done by Auto Tune of Hedge End, Southampton. The full service cost £210 and I can tell the difference in crisp acceleration. They explained everything to me and I certainly got value for money.
