Sat Nav Error

Morning all, I have been readeing numerous replys in the forum regarding this type of error 'open door check cd'. I bought the car from a garage last weekend and it hasn't worked since I got it. Its not a new car so has no warrinty. I have checked with Lexus and they have quoted me £1360 to fix inc VAT (wow). Does anyone have any links to sites that may be able to fix this problem, or does anyone have any contacts?. Any help would be much appreciated.

I've got the same problem as you, apparently it's due to a duff laser.

Sourcing one is a probelm though....But if lexus UK can fix them, I wonder if it's worth getting in touch with them to get a list of components?

If you do find somewhere cheaper than that who will fix it, let me know!

Lexus dealer will probably just replace the unit.

Don't understand that sentence. You bought it from a trader? It's got a warranty and he must sort it. End of story.

Hmm - my last sounded a bit short didn't it!

Meant to say that under the current SOGA there is now a reverse burden of proof on motor sales from traders - you have statutory rights over and above any warranty he may or may not have offered you.

So: if you bought it and it was made clear to you that the satnav didn't work, perhaps with a reduction in price to reflect that, then you have not a leg to stand on.

If however you subsequently discovered it didn't work, then he has to fix it or recompense you appropriately. There's a series of things you can do, each of increasing severity, to make that happen.

You may not wish to follow that route at all of course, for your own reasons, in which case forget all this!
