ADDING DVD TO NAVIGATOR

I KNOW LOADS OF YOU BEEN WAITING FOR THIS... i found all the pin outs from the navigator this afternoon, will be modding my navigator this week for dvd input. i will keep you all posted with what is needed...sit tight .. its not a lost cause.. you will require a RGB to video input adapter and a swith... but i have already mocked it up and it works, not had enough time to fit my dvd as yet..

Can I clarify, my IS's sat-nav is VCD, are you looking at the new IS which is DVD or modding the original VCD unit to be DVD, I caught the new DVD sat nav the other day at the dealer and was really impressed, the data it holds is great.

I think Steve is taking about using the SatNav's monitor to view the output from a DVD player.

So you would still need a seperate DVD player. Depending on the LCD monitor used by Lexus, the mod might work for both DVD and CD based SatNav systems.

I'd like to get the conversion for my IS to use the DVD Rom's from the new IS rather than the current VCD version, I'm talking to my dealer but they see no conversion route at present. The advantage is that they tell me the new DVD version covers all of Europe on the sat nav which would be great as opposed to changing ROM's when travelling, plus the content is much better. Of course I'd also like to get the DVD to be used for driving movies at the same time. Are you guys thinking of driving the movies via the front built-in screen - that would be really cool.

Just two links that may be of help to people. Someone on clublexus has managed to sucessfully do a nav screen conversion to take an ordinary video signal.
