What exactly are you wanting out of the car and how much money are you wanting to spend?

A chip on it's own isn't going to do a great deal, it would be better with an exhaust and induction system as it gives it more to work with..

What is your budget?

The cheapest major upgrade path you have is the supercharger - you're looking at around 3k.

For just a chip and professional mapping you really want to be talking to someone like Mark at TDI - ProLex-UK do sales but don't think they cover mapping etc.

I guess you could really take it anywhere local that does mapping but TDI are the only realy place in the UK that have dealt with multiple IS200's - other companies may have done one but you can't really compare results.

If you go for the chip on it's own you're not really going to see any massive improvements tbh, and you're talking about half a grand straight away (at least I think for the chip and mapping).

Might be worth saving, you can pick up second hand chargers on here for about £1500 when they come up if that gives you any idea. Exhaust wise you're looking at the Silent Hiper from TDI or Prolex for a quiet exhaust or something like the Kazuma from Prolex which is louder will cost you around 300 quid or thereabouts.

Think you can pick up induction systems for under 200 for the IS - the problem with this car is that it is expensive to modify to see any real improvements, it's not like some cars where you can invest 400 quid and see a massive improvement in performance :(

Would just like better acceleration. Didn't realy want to spend a great deal, but should the difference in BHP be radically improved then I would do.

Thanks for you're advice.

I don't think that Superchips offer a product for the is200, which is no bad thing anyway as Superchips are pre-mapped.

We stopped dealing with Superchips because we found better gains were to be had when the ecu is custom mapped on each car, rather than a pre-mapped chip which was done on someone elses car.

There are several custom mappable ecu's available such as HKS, Dastek, Emanage etc, all of which do a similar job. The difference is in the quality of the product and how well the mapping is done. We had a guy in with an Impreza earlier this week which already had a Dastek Unichip fitted by a firm that shall remain nameless. Very little mapping had actually been done by them, so we were actually able to make some big improvements for him.

My point is this: The results you get will be down to how good the firm/guy doing the job is, and how much time they are prepared to spend on it or you are prepared to pay for.

Whats soemthing like an extra say.........30 bhp going to cost me and any where local you coul reccomend. I live in Leicestershire. Money is not much of a proble and I don't want a rocket, just better acceleration.

Up until 4,000rpm the car is very sluggish (Trademark of straight sixes I guess)

so I want go from the second I put my foot to the floor.

as you want something like a 30hp gain your only (realistic) option is to go for the TTE supercharger kit - straight bolt on, easy to do yourself, takes between 6- 8 hrs to do.

Contact another member called "gord" and he will sort u out. believe the cost is £3k fitted inc vat etc
