Buttton Under Dash....whats It For?

Recommended Posts

The only thing I can see around there is the fuel filler and boot relase button from looking at photo's, i'll ask my dad later though if no one else posts before assuming his has this button, does it look like one thats always been there or does it look aftermarket?

If it's like my Series I GS300, I believe when you push the button in it stops the boot from being opened from inside the car (I'm not sure if it's only when the engine is running), you then have to use the key to release it.

I'm not sure mind you, I've never tried it on mine and just leave it depressed.

As eMjay says it is to overide the boot lock. On my old LS400 it was the same.

i.e. Valet parking they can park the car but not open the boot. It is a security feature. It can ONLY be opened with the master key not the secondary key.

I was working away from home in Newbury and I asked one of my lads to get something from the boot of my car. He pressed the button instead of the boot release. I had the secondary key on my keyring and could not open the boot!!!

My wife had to post the master key up to me!
