Has anyone got / know of any software ..... that works like the OCR on a scanner ?

I have some images ...... *.gif files that contain chunks of computer typed text, normal font / size.

I need some kind of software to be able to read these images, and retrieve the text from the images ?

There is somewhat over 20 pages of text in image format ........ and I really don't fancy having to re-type of all of the information again from those images!

anyone ?

Acrobat will do it mate - and so will Read Iris, which ships with HP printer software.

If you like, mail the files to me and I'll try to extract the text.

If you get stuck I have OmniPage Pro 9.0, I can try a test for you.

"OmniPage Pro offers a smart way to increase your work productivity while you work at your computer.

OmniPage Pro's optical character recognition (OCR) technology accurately and easily converts scanned paper documents and image files into editable text for use in your favorite computer applications. OmniPage Pro eliminates the need for manual retyping."
