I second the Panny, but stay away from LiteOn's as they aren't the most user friendly out there.

Also take a look at the Pioneer DVR-630H.

I'd go for the Panasonic, too. I've got the DMR-HS2 (DVD-R/DVDRAM/40GB HD), my parents have the DMR-E50 (DVD-R/DVDRAM). Very nice.

They are still silly money at the moment - It would be cheaper to get two separate units (sub £300 for both).

Also, a PVR is likley to be freeview. - keep in mind that The Government intends to switch off analogue TV between 2006 and 2010. It will be a phased process, over four years, and switchover will happen region by region.

Having two units also means you can record two programs concurrently.

I still reckon that the best PVR on the market is Sky+ though
