Is that the MAF sensor sitting between the filter case and the throttle body?

Looks like you are drawing cold air from somewhere close to under the headlamp unit - is the corrugated air pipe insulated?

Notice much difference?

1 Yes. It was the only place it would fit. Similar to the original position on the original airbox.

2 The pipe goes down to the grille

3 Yes I can feel the difference and it sounds more meaty. The car idles at lower revs too.
