Appropriate Gear/speed Usage?

I just got myself a nice black IS200 second hand and was wondering which gears correspond well to which speed.

I noticed that the gears are quite short

Gear 1 - uphill from start/stop - 0-5mph

Gear 2 - Birmingham M6 traffic hell *grin* - 5-20 mph

Gear 3 - City travelling - 20-40 mph

Gear 4 - City travelling - 30-60 mph

Gear 5 - Motorway/country road heaven - 50 - 70 mph

Gear 6 - Motorway - 60 to infinity and beyond...

But ideally, when should one use gear 5/6 for the right corresponding speed that doesnt kill the driveshaft/gearbox?

I normally go up to a ton in 4th.........it just gets there

5th and 6th I use for cruising in motorway traffic

And he wonders why he is only getting 20 MPG

Hey hey, 3rd gets me to 95.....

Through town I'll be using 5th, and I know that I have less low end torque than the 6 cylinder - no wonder you guys drink fuel.
