Sorry For The 20 Questions ....

Recommended Posts

ok ... wanna get some info ...

i've heard lots of stories about the black ECU bein problematic after an install etc etc..... and that if that happens, then need to contact TTE for the silver ECU.

I've also heard that there is no difference between the black and silver ECU except that the silver one limits the rpm at 6xxx to prevent precat meltdown.

and that its not worth to pay extra for silver one upfront.

So my question is .... if the black and silver one have no difference except for the rpm ceiling ... then why are ppl having so many problems with the black one during install? ... like CEL .... and loss of power etc etc.

Given that there may be other causes/bad install etc...

there is a fair share of ppl with problems which was directly caused by the black ECU .. right?

2ndly ..... who knows of a CAI kit .. that fits with the TTE SC kit? (and how much?)

Thanks loads guys ...

Bernard

I hear u bud ... but Im a bit weary ..to increase the number of variables for an install. Just the install itself will be a new thing for the local mechanics cos they've never done it before.

If i install a HKS fcon ... can I just replace the TTE ECU with it? or do i need to buy new sensors and also remap the thing?..... if it isn't a direct replacement for the TTE one .. then I would want to steer away from one .. at least until i can get the TTE SC kit up and running in "normal" mode.

I might consider opting for the silver ECU up front .... to try and minimize my troubles ..... altho for some reason I vaguely recall that there is more work involved when installing the silver ECU . .. is that correct? like there are more wires or something?

Bernard, the black box is having problems, yes it seens so, if i was you (and if i ever put s/c back on) go with the HKS fcd  :D about £100 over here, but with you in HK you might get it cheaper  :D

Yep - more wires. The black ECU has 3. The Silver has 7 if I recall correctly....

Bernard, the HKS fcd, well you put it where the black or silver box from TTE would go :D it only has 4 wires just like the black TTE box, the silver box from TTE has 7 wires, you can get your car up and running using the black box, see how it is, and if you get any problems, change to the HKS fcd :D
