Any help would be appreciated in the Birmingahm area

Ok here goes

I have a IS200 Sport and towards the end of last year i started getting a judder at the front when braking at around 50-60mph, so was told by someone that will be your disks that are warped, so i had some new discs fitted by my brother and new front pads, i also had new rear pads fitted, well it happened again there was the judder again, so i went back to the factors with the discs and said they are warped, they exchanged them, refitted them then i was told you need to bed them in over 500 miles, so i drove very careful, after i bed them in so they say, cranked it up to 60-80 on motorway started braking and it was back, then everyone is saying its this its that, so i have now replaced the lower ball joints the track rod ends, but the judder was still there, then i think i wonder if a Shock is knackered, so yes you guessed it

i have also swapped them on the front, but the F-kin judder is still there WHAT CAN IT BE NOW :tsktsk:

i have been on to WIM as i want to go down to Watford and get the Geo done on the car, but untill i get this judder sorted i feel i might be paying for a geo then someone will screw it up by messing with the wheels

PLEASE PLEASE Help if any one knows what it might be or can have a look i dont mind paying honest

but i am near cracking point.

i know yes i could take it to Lexus but feel i will be paying massive labour rates for them to keep testing differnt things and i aint that Rich.

Cheers Matt

did you get the wheels balanced

were the hubs cleaned before fitting the new discs

has the calipers been checked for binding, or sticking......*(service the caliper sliders)

yes Mat the hubs were cleaned, i took it back to the local tyre company and they rebalanced the tyres allround (they did not use the stick on type of weight they used the ones that knock on to side like on steel rims but inside) as they guy there said they are hard to stick on to wheels that are not spotless

we have checked the caliper and it seems fine but how would i know?? when you pump the pedal the pistons comes out then goes back in but still have to push them back to get it right inside (hope that makes sense)

he has used hammer on weights on alloy wheels...........

then he is a true muppet!!!, he is also lazy, as all they have to do is wipe the wheel inside to stick the weight on....

that my friend is your problem, your using a ***** as a wheel balancer

solve that one for a start then see if it clears the whole problem up.....if he cant be arsed to clean a wheel to put the CORRECT weights on, then i am sure he couldnt be arsed to balance the wheels correctly

mat i was there when he put them on the Machine and where it told him to put a weight he did it

but you defo think that would be the cause of the trouble or will i be paying out another £25-30 to have them all rebalanced

a mate of mine did say that 17" wheels are Bstd to Balance is that true

or i could get it done when i go to Tony at WIM

I've had a similar problem over the last couple of months - had new discs and pads all round, balancing redone etc but think it is now narrowed down to a sticking caliper.

I'm getting a replacement fitted tomorrow - will let you know if it sorts out the problem!

im sure Tony will be able to sort it out, 17 wheels are no harder than any other, ive never had issues with balancing or tracking on the Monster and thats always had 18" wheels on.....

steel wheel weights shouldnt be used on alloy wheels, it knackers them

Matt i hate to say it but you are wrong, you can use knock on weights on the STD Lexus 17" wheels

as there is a lip on inside for them to fit, i have been told this by three companies now

the advice they did give me was to swap the fronts to the rear to see if that cures the problem,

i am just waiting for Tony to get back to me.

But i think i will be going to the dealer if this does not cure the problem and just pass them my Master card and cry

well ive been told not to use those weights on aluminium wheels.

and i have never had them fitted by anyone when i used to get the std wheels balanced

maybe its a UK thing...but you definatly wouldnt see it in Germany

Oh well i will try the swap front to back then see how that goes but the one guy

did ask if i have any vibration when driving so i said no only when braking

the guy then said it must be brake related, if the wheels were not balanced you would get vibration at different speeds when driving. i cannot answer that as i dont know the business

You are in Germany? maybe that is my problem i need to drive on the other side of the Road :winky:

Hi all,

I too had the same problem and still do until now i hope...My mech has found that it must be the Lower Suspn arm, have since been to Lexus Croydon and the price they told me is about 117 pounds just for one side...I've been though every thing on checking my car from wheel bal, to caliper, and have even changed my Front discs and pads including the rear...I will order them unless someone knows where to get it from any cheaper.....

Steve

Ps the guy at the Parts counter at lexus croydon said that these will cause a wobble in the steering when braking ..incase any one wants the part number here she is " L48670-53010"
