Hi all. I've got a great 1993 LS 400. Relatively low miles and very well maintained. I do as much myself as I can. But this one has got me stumped. If you've seen this I'd like to hear what you found out.

Here's what happens. After the car is started and I step on the brake pedal, the indicator for a light bulb burnt out comes on in the dash, but also the R light comes on at the same time. From then on the indicator for burnt out bulb stays on but the R light only comes on when I step on the brake pedal, when I let up on the brake pedal the R light goes off also. Is it telling me that my back up lights are burnt out? That's the only thing I can think of other than some bigger electronic problem.

I sure hope someone has experience with this one.. Thanks..

This may sound totally THICK, but have you actually gotten someone to stand behind the back of the car and see if all your brake likes are working when you apply your foot on the brake?

Could be a good place to start the troubleshooting process!!!

Great First Post  Very helpful :whistling:

yogasuz Ive read i think on the US forum of strange electrical faults that are caused because some wires in the loom arent long enough and over time fray and short out.Could be the problem if all the rear tail and brake bulbs work ok.
