Generally ERR3 happens on the older model (where the CD loading slot is on the bottom).

The current CD players (loading at the top) should be fine...

Hello, i've got a 2000 IS200 Se, and i know it's been discussed before, but i just want some answers as Lexus Liverpool aren't budging.

1st, my CD changer ( cd slot on the bottom ) kept the CD's, then decided to go off altogether, i did get err3 for a bit, but died altogether not before the Radio was on on its on, full volume.

Now, i've rang Lexus and its out of warranty, but i've seen people say 3 years/ or 5 years / 100,000 miles, now mine has 93k on it, and they'er not budging, simply pointing me towards a proforma estimate, but the simple fact is they want £270+ vat for a new one.

Any help, would be greatly appreciated.

They changed the warranty about 2 years ago from 3 to 5 years. I know this as when I was on my 5th head unit (yes, 5th) Lexus Sheffield replaced mine under warranty when the car was 3 1/2 years old and told me the warranty had been extended to 5 years for all entertainment systems.

Are you 100% positive mate, cos i've rang Lexus Liverpool and they fob me off, saying 3 years, and thats the end all & be all.

If i ring Lexus Sheff will they tell me differently?

As long as your car isn't more than 5 years old, you should be able to get a replacement CD unit FOC. With your experience with your local Lexus dealer, i'd deal with another Lexus dealer or contact LGB (HQ) for further info/help.

Right.

I've just spoken to a very helpful man at Lexus in Sheff, ( chris fyi ) who told me a bulletin had been sent to ALL Lexus UK dealers, explaining the full 5 year warranty on all systems, but mine is 6 months out. .. *** damnit, and the price to get it replaced is approx £450.

He didn't mention anything about 100k warranty, Sorry.

Good luck, for now im gonna carry on listening to my IPOD in the car. .

i would have thought that if you deal with autosound direct you should be able to get a cheaper quote, by going direct to autosound you cut out the middleman (lexus). anyways, if you go down the aftermarket route, you'll need a facia adaptor to hold the aftermarket headunit, possibly something else too, someone else on LOC whose more clued up than me maybe able to offer you some advice?

I see your model is a Se... do you have sat-nav? as fitting a replacement headunit when you have sat-nav is slightly more complicated.... Fargo can help though...

Either way you probably still have an AMP so it's not that straight forward to go and swaphead units....

Not been smart but you should search on these forums as there are tonnes of posts about said issue...

good luck

:)

With an SE you'll need a customised ISO connector to fit an aftermarket Stereo. PM Fargo(Paul) he should be able to help you out with one or point you in the right direction.
