Double Locking

Hi All

I've only just realised that I now have to press the "lock" button twice in order to double lock the car.

My 99 IS200 used to double lock with just one press.

As the second press doesn't respond with a lights flash, its often very easy to miss / forget.

Does anyone know why Lexus did this? And whether the car can be set to double lock on the first press of the lock button?

This one has been discussed quite a bit before here. It confused most of us, no idea why they changed this.

Parts bin consolidation with toyota perhaps ?

So you can lock passengers in the car without deadlocking them in.

e.g. You lock your kids in the car while you pay for petrol, car catches fire - kids can't open the doors if it's deadlocked.

OK, so it's a bit extreme but you get the idea.

double locking is for parking purpose, with it they can't open the car from inside even breaking a window…
