Buying Myself A Used Is200

Hi!

This is my first post so hi everybody! Im not native english speaker though so i apologize for spelling mistakes, and typos :)

I decided to purchase an IS200 (2000-2002) and wanted to ask you guys some questions. First, what mileage should i aim for? is 75 000 miles way too much? I know lexus is very reliable car but still... Ideally i would want the mileage to be under 60 0000 but its quite hard to find 5-6 years old car with relatively low mileage. Alternatively i could buy newer but more mainstream car like Citroen, Seat, Ford, but somehow i like lexus for its reliablility/quality reputatuion and to tell the truth its one of my old dreams to own an IS200 :) And now that new IS models are out and prices on old IS are dropping i could afford myself one :) So is there some high mileage IS owner who can give some advice?

Another thing is service history. I wouldnt want to buy a used car without service book with full service history. The way i see it: its really not hard to include service history with the car unless there is something to hide, right? The problem is that a lot of used cars sold around here dont have that, i dont know why. What is your suggestion on that? Is a car without service history probably some "trick"? i mean some cheap car that has been imported and "cosmeticly repaired" for reselling with profit...

Also any general suggestions are welcomme...

EDIT! and what do you think of this car (no service book though, ant 77 000 miles on the clock)

best regards.

R

Hello and Welcome to Lexus Owners Club

My car is 1999 with 110K miles, drives and runs superb

Cam/timing belt gets changed at 100k miles/ 10 years...might be something to keep in mind.

My car has not got full Lexus service history but it has been serviced by an independant garage, I have had cars in the past with no history and you can generaly tell if the are looked after or not.

Best of luck finding a car.

hello,

a month before i bought an is200se 8/2001

It had 77000km and i bought it 18500Euros

the car is in very good condition but there was no service book so i mad the owner to pay my own service which was:

-new disk brakes all four

-new brake pads all four

-new fiters (air,oil,cabin,etc.)

-new rear absorbers

-new spark plugs

and after these i went the car to a toyota garage and i changed everythink it might have a problem.

I think i have made my best.and it was a good price

IS200 is a great sport sedan

I thought the timing belt was meant to be changed at 6 years? I have a 99T with 67k and it's not been changed, was thinking of getting it done / doing it soon.
