Hi everyone,

I used to own a Rover 200GSI. I changed jobs and stopped driving into Kent to work and started going on the train into the city. My wife then started to drive the Rover to work. After about 5 months 2 of the exhaust valves in the engine blew up (£800 damage!). I was told by the dealer that it was due to my wife driving the car short distances to work (max 2 miles) which coked the valves up.

My question is - will this happen to my IS200 if I drive it short distances to work? I may be changing jobs soon and the company is 2 miles from my home at the max! I don't want my pride and job to blow up! Likewise - I don't want to sell it and drive a 1.1 Fiesta!

(BTW - my wife now drives a nice new 1.2 Vauxhall Corsa a short distance to work and it's been fine! B) )
