under what circumstances does the light come on??, but anyway i would check the brake switch- as it is intermittant it is very possible the wiring or the switch itself is faulty thus giving you the false indication

I am having the same issue with the parking brake light. The parking brake is not engaged, however the light comes on intermittently. The brake fluid is not low. Seems to happen more frequently in cold weather. Anything you guys can suggest I check before taking the car to a dealer? The care is a 1989 ES300
