Dvd For Satnav Installation

Recommended Posts

I have bought a newer version DVD from eBay. I know that it is installed at the RHS of the boot at the back, but am having difficulty freeing the DVD reading assembly (a silver box about 8" by 12") to enable the old DVD to be ejected and replaced with the new one.

Please can anyone advise?? This is for a 2005 LS430.

I have answered my own question. Looking down at the silver box, which runs front to back, and there are two philips head bolts. Remove these, and raise the box levering gently up from the front of it. Make sure the main boot "carpet" is removed as the box tilts backward at an angle, and needs the space where the carpet is removed for the disc to come out freely. Slide the catch on the top left, to the left, and depress the button, and the disc will come out. Have the new one ready, and insert immediately, otherwise the ejected one is sucked back in. It kept all my previously kept addresses, to my delight.

Hi Rob,

Take out the two little hex-head screws and get your fingers under the sides of the box at the inboard end and pull it up, it's in a tinny bracket and the catches get a bit graunchy! That'll lift the face enough to slide open the window and eject the disc. Perhaps you'll even drop one of the screws into the cavern too, like me!

Good luck!

Pete

Hi all,

I just upgraded my LS400 to a LS430 year 2001.

It has the Sat-Nav in it. I am collecting it tomorrow and am very excited.

I asked the dealer to update the Sat Nav DVD as a part of the sale.

They did this and told me it is a Lexus owners right to have the most up-to-date DVD in the car. When the car is in for a service, if there is a DVD update it will added, as a part of the service.

Most people don't request this, so it is not done!

I am in Dublin in Ireland.

Have not slept all week as I've been so excited about the new car.
