Service Plan For £1k

I have been offered the following service plan by a dealer, 3 services for just about £1K, details below.

£320.39 deposit

£41.XX monthly payments X19

Is this a bargain or rip-off?

I don't think it's a rip off from a dealer but why get it serviced by Lex?

My IS is 6 years old with 94K on the clock. I had the timing belt done, 2 New tyres and a full service all for £500 including genuine Lex parts! I use an independant garage because I trust them. also I have had no problems with it in 12 months, they realy are reliable. I asume your car is about 5-6 years old if so its worth about 7K if you have full lex service history in 3 years your car will be worth 3K topps. if you dont have full Lex service it's still worth around 3K. what you may possibly lose in depreciation is probably less than what you will be paying extra over an independant garage to Lexus. Manufacturers still have to honour warantee's by law even if it's serviced by an independant.

Having recently bought our RX300 SE - we opted to buy a Service Pack from Lexus for the same mileage levels. I think I psoted my 'findings' in some detail on the RX Forum and think you might find that of use.

Just FYI a 50k/60k/70k Service Pack for our RX cost £606 - which is much cheaper than if I paid individually. Service Plan for us worked out better value for money - even taking into account the very cheap and competitive service costs of Lexus Hanley.

£606 is very good, and I would have taken it for my IS as the 60K service alone costs around £650 for the dealership that offered me this deal, but looking back £1100 means the 50K and 70K service would have cost me £225 each (more if I have my 60K done at Hanley for £450ish), not such a great deal then.

Get the gen parts and get another reputable garage to do the work. What you think your saving in depreciation by not going to Lexus is wasted on the difference in price between Lexus and other garages! £1000 plus for 3 services.....neah, no thank you!
