Help - Alarm Not Turning Off.

Hi All,

For some strange reason my key buttons were not working when I tried unlocking my IS200 a few moments ago. I stupidly used the key to open the car, as I should have guessed the alarm went off.

I have tried using the key buttons without success. To add to matter the hazards are fashing which will probably end up draining my Battery before the morning.

Does anyone know if there is a emergency alarm deactivation?

Anyone had this problem before?

Did you put try putting the key in the ignition and turning it on? I thought that would reset the alarm.

Yep tried that, amazingly the engine started but the alarm did not turn off. Help!!!

Have you tried re-locking it with the key, then using the key button to un-lock it?

Yeah tried that too. Locked the car using the key and now trying periodically to turn it off using the key buttons without any luck.

Is it worth disconnecting the main Battery? Or is there a backup Battery for the alarm.

i had a similer problem with a vectra i had and it was the Battery back up in the alarm itself that was shagged . down to the main dealer £83 and it was as good as new . hope that helps . :D

The alarm should switch itself off after a set time.

Have you tried the spare key?

The alarm sound did turn off after a short time, however the hazard lights are still flashing.

Tried the spare key too. Yep you guessed it no luck.

I guess the keys are fine it must be something with the car.

Sorry... don't know what else to suggest! At least your not keeping the neighbours awake now, you wouldn't have been popular!

Okay I'm back - the lock-unlock-lock-unlock method did not work for me.

I read on another thread that the alarm should deactivate after 10sec after switching the engine on. So I gave it a go and drove the car with the alarm on. The alarm switched off after 10secs. I guess I was too quick when I first tried.

Worth noting for the future.

Key buttons still not working on both sets of keys. A trip to the garage I think.

How weird. My key buttons worked fine this morning.

I wans't drunk honest.

I guess this isn't a common problem.

Car need to go for a service now anyway, I'll mention it to them then.

I've had that problem twice - both times I was parked in the same place. I guess something (mobile phone mast or whatever) was blocking the signal.

I had a problem with my alarm recently and, it wouldn't activate the siren and horn if you waved your hand around inside the vehicle after it had been armed. I took it to Lexus Reading and they had to fit a fit a new sensor - now fixed and all okay :D

I got chatting to the service manager and asked him if they had many problems with the alarms on the IS200, he replied that the only trouble they seem to have is that they don't always switch themselves off

So might be an idea to check the sensor. Just a thought.
