Petrol

As petrol prices are now knocking on the door of a £1.00 per litre I was thinking of how I can save a bit of money (I know, saving money and owning an LS430 do not usually go hand in hand  ). I was going to get petrol from the BP garage the other weekend but the queue was so long I popped down to my local Sainsbury's petrol station instead. Now I normally fill up on BP Ultimate and have used it my old GS300 for a couple of years and have used it in the few weeks I have owned my LS430. One thing I did notice was the proce difference between Sainsbury's Super Unleaded and BP's Untimate Unleaded. Now they are both 97RON so would they both be the same in anyone's opinion? There is about 4 or 5 pence per litre difference in the price and as you can imagine, filling up on 80 litres of petrol aint cheap  .

So, can anyone tell me the difference between BP Ultimate Unleaded at 97RON and Sainsbury's Super Unleaded, also 97RON.

Many thanks.

There's also a way to knock about 3p off a liter of petrol using cashback cards. I drive close to 3,000 miles a month :duh: and these cards give a little back. The basis is if you pay your card off in full each month the credit card company will reimburse you with a % of what you have spent that month.

The best two are the shell credit card that gives you 3% off all petrol purchases at shell (6% for first two months), or the cashback barclaycard that gives 2% off all petrol. Just pay for your fuel with the card and then pay off the card every month, and you have effectively knocked a little off the price of fuel. Its not a lot but its free money ;) .
