Whats This Black Knob ?

Hi guys, not had my mk3 long and still learning but this ones puzzling me.

Below the windscreen on the passenger ,most fwd edge of dash is a small black knob,

am afraid to push it incase it does something !!! Its not mentioned in the owners manual

so am at a loss. There is a blank on the drivers side.

also why does the aircon light come on when i use the heater !! i turn it off and still get heat.

you can use the aircon with the heat on it will help take away condensation etc in the winter ,are you sure the other thing is a button not a senser of some sort

Hi Steve

THe air con helps demist the windscreen better in humid conditions. I live in Spain and it's very humid even when it's not particular warm and the a/c does a much better job on clearing the windscreen.

As for the black knob, I think you are referring the the light sensor. This detects the drop in light outside and if you have the headlights selected to Auto they will automatically turn on. Try covering the knob with a sheet of paper to check.

It's the cabin temperature control sensor for the climate control
