Hi

My wife just bought a new baby Lexus..... well alright its a Toyota Yaris SR.

The dealer was trying to sell us a paint guard system that "lasts for years"

If this is done at the dealers then surely it must be available for DIY application

Anyone know what its called and if it does what it says on the tin!!!!

The dealers usually use Supaguard, or something similar, and you can pick the kits up on eBay for around £30 normally.

Not really sure how good they are though, my sister's Mini had Supaguard applied by the dealer, and it seems to be doing pretty well, but it's non-metallic white, so doesn't really show up swirls anyway.........hopefully someone will be along shortly who knows more.........

If you want swirls removed, you need compound such as Mezerna Intensive Polish coupled with a good machine polisher like a Porter Cable fitted with a Lake and Country Orange Light Cut Pad then finished off with a good quality Final Polish (anything is good but Mezerna do one called Final Finish Polish which is just excellent) best applied with a finishing pad (Sonus SFX3 Blue) on the PC. Now apply a coat of caranuba wax to protect your lovely nice new swirl free finish. This will take ages to do the whole car, and is a real headache to do without a machine polisher (although possible) but the results are simply staggering. PM me if you need any help.
