hello. i have found a x reg lexus gs300 se in silver. it is not far from me but it has 169000 miles on it. it has a full lexus service history and it is priced according to the milage. it also needs new alloys. my question is: is this car a good buy with these sorts of miles on it? it will be used 80 miles a day by me on the motorway. it was a ex dem then had one owner after that.

thanks it is a facelift model but i was also wondering to the facelift rear lights fit on the prefacelift? e.g 51 reg lights on a t plate gs300.

thanks help appreciated.

The mileage is not an issue in terms of the engine and gearbox and interiors which are very hard wearing. The usual caveats, look at previous invoices etc.

However, the suspension at that age and mileage WILL have gotten tired even with lots of motorway driving. Look to see if any control arms/shocks/springs/bushes have been replaced in the last 70k miles or so. If they haven't then lower the price accordingly.

The mk2 GS handled like a boat when new, and it handles even worse with a tired suspension!

Remember, an MOT doesn't necessarily mean the suspension is fresh, it just means there is nothing dangerous on that particular day to the MOT tester.

I have put facelight rear lights on my T reg GS. The member I bought them off had already modded them, so it just plugged in no problem.

Oh, one more thing. You will find in daily driving that the GS300 is most likely THIRSTIER than your LS430! The engine is a much older design, and the gearbox has lower gearing for faster off the line acceleration.
