Cambelt Change Quote From Lexus Ipswich

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Ive just got my Lexus IS200, after looking through all the service history realise it needs its cambelt changing.

The Lexus dealership at Ipswich quoted £350 inclusive of VAT. Does anyone think thats a bit excessive? Do you think it

would be worth going to a private garage?

Thanks

Dave

Thanks for that info Dave.

Useful to know as gotta get mine done about now.

Handy to have an idea what they're likely to quote me too.

Tony,

I forgot to ask if they did any discount for Gold members? Am tempted to join.

If you could let me know if you find a better deal it would be appreciated.

I've always used Bramford Motor Engineering for all the difficult stuff on my cars (inc wifes Saab 2.3T). They are good and not expensive. On Bramford Road in that garden centre place. Tel 749944.

As I've only had my IS 300 for about 2 months I've no direct experience of them working on Lexus cars - disclaimer - but, they've done work on previous cars - Nissan Z, loads of Saabs, my sons BMW(s) and friends Toyotas...

Good luck

I got a quote from Lexus Bristol and it was £333 for the belt to be changed. I then went to my local garage and asked to see what they would charge with offical lexus parts and they quoted me £395. Its worth shopping around the different dealers/garages and see what deals they will do but bear in mind not all Lexus dealers will accept the gold membership discount.

Ipswich dealership did certainly do owners club discounts (or seemed to for me anyway) but not sure now.

I got a card from them a while back headed "vehicle loyalty club".

Mentions various discount rates for parts and labour depending on vehicle age along with a few other things.

So not sure if they'll do a loc discount on top of any of those.

I'm sure to find out soon though :)

As for gold membership, just go for it anyway. Feels nice to 'belong'

What else should be replaced during a cambelt change (idlers?). Do they normally change all required parts as standard without you asking?

Does anybody know any good independents for an IS200 cambelt change in the Bristol/Bath area? Has anybody every been To 1st Choice Toyota Specialists in Warmley Bristol?

Thanks

Si

Just if anyone is interested I got a quote for £262 in total from another garage I have always used and trusted. But this includes the belt kit instead of just cambelt i.e pretensioners etc, thought it would be best to change these at the same time - the kit they quoted was £109.52 and labour at 3 hours.

Popped in to the dealership yesterday and they've booked my car in for cambelt change.

They weren't sure whether they could do loc discount too. Suggested it would probably just be the Lexus loyalty discount instead.

Estimated it would be around 314 quid.

They're collecting car next Tuesday and dropping off again when it's done. That's one of the loyalty freebies.

Hope it all goes well :lookaround:

Just incase anyone else is interested in prices. The local Lexus dealers were: (Bristol & Cardiff)

£333.00 (for just timing belt to be replaced)

£421.00 (for timing belt and tensioner) Said you dont need the idler pulley changed!!! ??

(wont accept LOC discount)

Local Garage price was:

£375 (For new timing belt, tensioner, & idler pulley with labour & vat)

So mines booked in for next weekend so ill ket you know how it gets on and ill get the garage to keep the belts so i can take pictures of what condition the belts are in a 80,000 - just incase ur wondering to try and make 100,000 before changing!
