Can any one tell me what they have recently paid for a 10000 mile service? I've just booked mine in and have been quoted £258.80 which seems rather expensive to me.

Cheers

rang my dealer yesterday and was quoted 210. incl the oils etc

Paid £155 all in for mine, included LOC Gold discount!! It seems to vary from dealer to dealer.

Positively a bargain - that was at Leicester.

Unless the disel is cheaper to service...??? Anyone know?

Also, wasn't the new IS supposed to be cheaper to service than the old one? Lots of noise was being made about mineral oils and the like, yet the dealers tend to stick Mobil1 Super Synth in...

rang lexus hanley and they have quoted £125 with vat n parts

There seems to be a lot of variation on prices. I've just called Lexus Wolverhampton who have quoted £199 inc vat and parts. So within the Midlands area prices vary between £125 and £258. Seems ridiculous to me. Incidently, I've just got rid of an Audi A4 which had variable service intervals. As I do a lot of motorway driving it used to go 22000 miles between services. The last one cost £243. It seems the Lexus is going to be expensive to run with 2 services a year.

Also be sure to ask what they will do - as on some services (like the 2 yr/20K) some dealers will INCLUDE cost of brake fluid (and quote inclusive) while others will literally give you the price of the service itself.

Do make sure that any variance is taken into account by asking for what they will do. Don't assume that they will do the same.

lexus leicester quoted £210 incl all. same as coventry then.

Mine was £188 at Lex Manchester - no LOC discount as my mebership expired! Have damaged my o/s exhaust box and advised needs replacing at nearly £500 which seems a bit steep though - anyone disagree/agree?

I think it's 0w40. Costco were doing it for £21+vat last year for 4 litres...Halfords do it for £13 for one litre! The User Manual tells you which grades, but I seem to recall that the cars came with 5w30 from the factory, which I couldn't get anywhere - except Shell LongLife for VAG cars. That was £14 p/litre at Halfords!

ya 5w30..presumably 0w40 is better than 5w30? how much did lexus charge u for it do u know? i might just get it from oscotts trader here instead of using lexus'. has anyone asked their dealer why mineral oil is not used instead of the super synth?

ust rang my local lexus dealer and asked bout the engine oil.

said by standard the cars come with 10w40 and thats what they put in at service intervals etc which is lexus own branded @ a cost of £32.40 for a 5L bottle. the tank takes 6L. so its a bit more. if u do want the 5w40 from them, its shell branded and costs £35 for 6L. excluding loc discounts.

now time to go shoppin and see if i can find any cheaper.

It's OK to use mineral, semi-synth or full synthetic in the IS engine - Lexus designed it around mineral oils for alleged lower cost of ownership. The important factor is that the viscosity is correct for the driving conditions and that it has the right additives and detergents as specified. All synthetic oil does is give you longer service intervals but since the Lexus intervals are fixed at 10k that is not required.

I have an IS220d Sport and its due its 10k service in 2k and have been quoted £215 all in by Lexus Leicester. Have not asked for LOC discount yet and think I should being a Gold member. Does anyone know if Lexus Leicester honour LOC Gold Membership?

believe they do. Think its 15%. Correct me if i'm wrong..

No, you are correct on both counts.

15% of what? On my last service at Milton Keynes they applied the Gold Member discount only to "parts" and they did not include the engine fluids as "parts", so I got very little discount in reality.

Right, and my total 10k service parts bill was £8.17 for an oil filter kit + 89p for screenwash + 78p for a drain plug; giving a total of £9.84.

15% discount on that would be about £1.48 - not exactly a big deal!

It helped soften the blow (slightly!) on my IS200 when it had a 60k service plus a new water pump and a cambelt....
