I was also wondering about this too I opten go on long journeys with the missus who knows how to use the sat nav and its a bit inconvenient having to pull over to check something when she can do it from the passenger seat whilst changing cd's and reading a book

Yep with the mk1 IS, there is only the temporary mod as in the link above - need to do that everytime you start up.

The other option is to cut the speed sensor wire and add a switch, which would mean you cut temporarily cut it whenever you need to use the satnav, and then switch it back on again once you're done.

Has anyone actually done the second option by the way? Is the speed sensor wire somewhere easily accessible?
